the cons heavily out weigh the pros at mountain America credit union, the pros are the branch is close to my house and they have a branch in just about every town surrounding me. and the credit cards I can split up for my employees and they can get fuel or whatever else they need, all with the prepaid debit card.

The cons outshine the pros at this bank by a large margin. First con is that macu couldn't give a rats as about their customers in any way shape or form. they are more interested in blaming everything on the customers than they are actually helping fix clearly their mistakes, but they will admit fault and in the same sentence "remind you that they are not liable for their mistakes but the customer(me) is liable.
couple weeks ago I sold an item online which added up to $3000.00 the buyer was "negotiating a contract out of state" and so he sent some guys to meet me for the sale and to give the items over. the check I was given was a cashiers check for $4,850.00 WHICH IS $1,850 more than my asking price, which raised my suspicion and I asked the guy about it and he acted confused of why the check was that much. he got off the phone then called back a few minutes later and said "sorry my secretary put a different persons money on top my check and asked if I could just give the $1850 to his pickup guys. situation was odd but I was meeting with someone, was given a cashiers check and moved forward with this. my portion of the funds were used up on bills and whatever else within the next 3 weeks. I had taken the check to macu to cash and deposit it which I deposited $1000 into my account and cashed out $2k.
2-3 weeks later I had $4,350 in my savings $1,000 in a business debit card and $1500 in a different account.. the $4350 in savings was a deposited check from an insurance company that sent me it to fix my truck and a bunch of other things so I can getd back to being mobile. damage was from accidents weeks before. I had $5000 to my name to last me a month atleast, need to stretch this money as I have a family of 4, a mortgage, ect then also I have to run my business employing 4 guys and running 4 vehicles.

That check was returned as an altered/ficticious check???? what the fk macu? is this not why people use banks and credit unions, so st like this doesnt happen or if it does the customer is protected? THIS IS CLEARLY FRAUD EVEN MACU DESCRIPTION IN MY STATEMENT SAYS FRADULENT CHECK.... im just a concrete contractor how am I supposed to know if the check I recieved was fraudulent and not even a real checking account? this is their job to identify it before it gets to this point, why didnt macu check the checking account from this fraudulent check before they cashed it and gave me money. they say since I signed it it puts all liability on me????!!!! we sign checks so we can either deposit them or cash them not to make the banks not liable for them not doing their jobs. why wasn't their a hold put on this check? they put holds on every check I give them except this one. these guys are horrible people and honestly I hope the manager at Saratoga branch burns in hell because he has the power to reimburse me but he would rather watch his poor management skills and sheer laziness on following up on the check before I got the cash because when I was cashing it I asked them to verify funds first and they said everything checked out. macu drained my account without telling me what's going on . took every dime I had, they got into my accounts and self performed transfers from all my accounts and put all the money into my savings account then they stole $5000.00 from me and from my insurance company. THIS IS THEFT I DONT CARE HOW THEY WANT TO PUT RESPONSIBILITY UPON OTHER PARTIES, THIS IS THEIR MISTAKE AND THEY SHOULD BE GETTING LEGAL ACTION BY GOING INTO MY ACCOUNT UNAUTHORIZED TRANSFERRING MONEY FROM ONE ACCOUNT TO THE NEXT THEN DRAINING MY ACCOUNT TILL I WAS $700 IN THE NEGATIVE. THEN THEIR SOLUTION WAS TO GIVE ME A LOAN BUT ONLY FOR ENOUGH TO GERT MY BALANCE BACK TO $0. I am talking to my attorney on this tomorrow and I am going to do everything I can to get MY $5,000 back .

MACU PLEASE MAKE THIS RIGHT YOU ALREADY HAVE COMPLETELY SCREWED ME OVER BY YOUR ACTIONS . IF NOT IM DEFINITELY CANCELING MY ACCOUNTS WHICH I HAVE A HIGH CASH FLOW RUNNING THROUGH MY BUISNESS ACCOUNTS OF ANYWHERE FROM $60,000-$110,000/MONTH they made last month alone off me $3000 in fees that were bogus since October they've collected almost $8,000 in fees .

DO NOT BANK WITH THESE GUYS AS THEY ARE CROOKS, THIEVES, AND PRESSURE YOU INTO LOANS INSTEAD OF JUST GIVING YOU WHATS LAWFULLY YOURS... BIGGEST MISTAKE IVE MADE IN MY ADULT LIFE

I got a motorcycle loan 6 years ago from Mountain America Credit Union, I was just out of high school & I was 30 days late just two times out of the length of the entire loan. After contacting them multiple times they still won’t remove it! 6 YEARS LATER! And it’s been paid off for 5 years! Wow! Talk about a company who doesn’t forgive or care about their customers! Especially ones who paid them everything they owed them! I have since taken multiple car loans and plan on mortgage and another car loan within the next year, I will NOT be taking that business to MACU! Do NOT bank with them! Go with Deseret first for best vehicle interest rates. Or US Bank for their customer service! Heck even America First Credit Union just don’t go to MACU. All I want are the negative items removed from my credit. How are having them on 6 years later even after the account is in paid status help them?!? It doesn’t, they are just being rude!

Beware of this company. They have poor customer service from their front line representatives to their supervisors. From the very beginning, we have had nothing but problems with this company. The first you, as a consumer, needs to be aware is that they will include multiple bills into one envelope. There is no notice stating that the envelope may contain more than one bill. The second issue is when you pay a bill in full, expect that you will get another statement with interest that you need to pay even though you paid the amount in full. This is a disreputable company that consumers need to be aware of. Last but not least, expect that when you plan to call this company, you will be on hold for 30 min until you get a live person.

I'm 58 years old and receive supplemental Security disability. I was a victim of Facebook scam for selling items. I will send a certified cashier's check I mobile deposit it into my macu account it said funds was ready so I withdrew and pay bills. 4 days later I received email from macu that it was fraudulent they are now keeping my supplemental security check for November 1st 2017 and part of December 2017. I'd ask them for a direneed payment plan hardship payment plan and to no avail they do not return my texts or request over the phone. I have no way of paying my rent my phone will be cut off November 1st I had title loans on my vehicle that gets me to the doctor every month for my cancer that will be taken away and I told them this late did not seem to care all they cared about was their money and they were a very good thank I really enjoyed being with them until this incident I Was Made of it done by this person on Facebook now I'm Addicted by macu my heart is broken and I'm scared to death of what I'm going to do I'm going to be homeless and without a vehicle and sick I just don't understand why they wouldn't take payments this was not intentionally very sad situation.
I HAVE ALWAYS REFERRED MACU TO FAMILY AND FRIENDS. TGEY HAVE HELP ME WITH OTHER SITUATIONS AND I DO APPRECIATE IT.
BUT TO TAKE A DISABLED PERSONS ENTIRE FUNDS WHEN BEING A VICTIM MACU MADE ME A VICTIM A SECOND TIME. I WILL BE HOMELESS WITH OUT A VEHICLE.

Mountain America spends their member's money as if it's managements own personal funds. They enjoy a tax exempt status as a non-profit (supposedly returning all profits back to the members), yet they pay the same interest rates on deposits as any bank. However, they do have luxurious offices, corporate cars for management, and salaries that are much higher than market rates. It's pretty clear that the profits earned are returned to the pockets of management, not the members. Mountain America credit union will be the poster child for what killed the credit union movement in a few years.

Horrible customer service. Was actually ignored and given dirty looks from one of the account managers on multiple occasions. Was made to sit and wait for over 30 minutes while the female account rep was chatting and laughing with a co-worker and refused me service. I had to wait for another account rep to finish assisting another member. I took this issue to the area manager and was told he would take care of it. The situation got worse. When I reached out to him again, he told me to just not come in to that branch and do my business at the branch on the other side of town. I do not feel that I should have to go out of my way to do my banking. I took my kids in to the South branch to open a saving account but she was working there that day so I told my kids that "we would not be getting service today". If I didn't have an active loan with this bank, I would move my accounts to a more reputable financial institution.

I had an account at Mountain America for 14-15 years. It was all fine and dandy until I was the victim of fraud. When I discovered the fraud, and reported it to Mountain America they said they could only do the past 60 days. I wasn't happy about this so I took all my money out and found a bank that believes in customer service. The Teller, however, only put in a request for 30 days. When I discovered the tellers mistake they couldn't reimburse me for the other thirty days, because it was past the 60 day time frame. Because they only reimbursed 30 and not the full 60 (teller mistake), the few outstanding checks I had didn't clear, and I was charged a $20 fee for each check they covered that didn't have sufficient funds.

I went into the branch and spoke to the manager Rachelle, who waived the $20 fee and put in a request to get me credit for the other 30 days that they should have done several weeks before. I wanted to close my account but she couldn't because my account was in negative, due to not refunding all of the amount they were supposed to. She told me she would handle it personally and call me back on Tuesday, and never did. Meanwhile more fraudulent charges come through, they pay them and charge me an additional $20 for each one because they were kind enough to cover it.

I go back into the location, I am upset and basically tell Rachelle she screwed up and it's costing me money. The other manager doesn't like it and threatens to call the cops on me unless I leave. I have tried closing my account for 2 months, they refuse to because it is negative in funds. The only reason it is negative in funds is because their teller never filed for all 60 days.

I feel like bigger victim dealing with Mountain America than I do with the person that used my checks online for video games. Never ever do business with this bank. They have no ethics or morals, they won't keep their word and they will make you pay for their mistakes. As it stands now I have to hire an attorney to get them to close my account.

Used online application system for a loan and after 2 weeks with no callbacks after 30 or so calls and 9 messages left I ended up having to go into my main branch only to find out that nobody there knew anything about it. Wasted hours of my time so i'm on my way down to open up an account with another bank.
