The owner of the company came out to my home to bib on a job. He told me it would be $4200 to have my sewer line redone from my house out to the street, about 50 or so feet. I paid a $2000 deposit via check, which he had me write to him personally, instead of the business name. He began work the next day. When I came home from work, he told me that about 30 feet of the line did not need to be replaced. He continued working, then said the job required a hole to be made in my home and that would be an extra $2500. I thought I had no choice and allowed him to move forward. He made the hole in my home and then said that I would require a larger job, to the tune of an extra 10K. Again, I thought I had no choice, contracted for the larger job and wrote a check for $5400. I ended up researching and getting second opinions over the evening/morning. Three different plumbers told me that the hole in my home and the repair that was recommended by this company were not needed. I told the Owner that I chose to not move forward and he demanded payment in full, despite the job not being complete and him having only done about 12 feet of a 50 foot repair job. He finally came off $1500, but refused to do any further work on my home, unless it was the larger job. I contracted with someone else who resolved the issue for $2500, including water line replacement, filling of the hole, and sewer line replacement. A month or so later, the owner of this company attempted to cash the $5400 check for the job he never even started. He is either a thief or poorly organized. I offered him the chance to explain himself and send me a picture of the destroyed check, he has not responded.
No settlement requested - for If replacing 50 feet of sewer line is $4200, then per foot is $84. So, $84 x 20 is $1680. He did take off 1500 from the cost after I pushed. Making the cost for a COMPLETE job $2700. If putting a hole in my home and repairing that is $2500, then the job was only half done $1250 Total for work done would be 1250+1680= $2930. That is generous, because he didnt finish. I paid this man 5K total and everything he did had to be removed and replaced by the plumber who ultimately resolved the issue
