I'm not sure how to properly respond to this complaint #as your letter discusses publication of my response which would be a violation of HIPPAI have never had such a complaint and so I'm not sure how to proceed.The best information that I can supply is that all patients sign a form
explaining in detail that there is a non-refundable $part of a surgical depositWe keep all such forms on recordThis money is used to pay for a myriad of work that staff need to do in preparation for that which the patient requestedFor patients who pay more than the non-refundable deposit, that excess is refunded if the surgery is cancelled.One reason that a surgery would be cancelled would be that a primary care physician reports that the patient is not healthy enough for surgery, and in those cases we do of course proceed in the most safe manner for the patient and follow the directions of the primary care doctor in canceling such a patient's operation.I am very happy to have complete discussions with detailed explanations in compliance with HIPPA should the proper releases be presented to me.I have been told by the woman in question that she is rescinding this complaint as she now understands the purpose of the depositsIf this is not the case, please contact me directly and immediately as this can easily put this to rest with the proper HIPPA releases.Sincerely,A*** ***, MD
