Mohawk Car Wash

Review: On 9/11/2013 I visited Mohawk Car wash for a $3.50 self serve, coin operated car wash as I always do. I did not have the correct change so I opted to use my credit card. There was NO notification that the cost of the car wash would be more if payed by credit card.

Instead of being charged $3.50, a pending charge of $15.00 was initially charged to my [redacted] account. It was later changed to $8.50-far exceeding the $3.50 cost of a car wash! I found 3 similar complaints on other reporting wesites.Desired Settlement: Requirement to post ALL costs in an obvious location!

Called her-left her a message and told her I was sorry she was overcharged and sent her $10.00 and told her to have her next car wash on us. Our car wash cannot begin any cycle for less than $4.00. I have no idea where the $3.50 came from. FYI we have approx 1200 cc transactions per month. I believe almost all issues are a result of someone no stopping the cc purchase or that the cc does a pending charge of $15.00 and then adjust it to actual. Why they do that is because they don't know the actual charge until the process is complete. This complaint is confusing to me because of the $5.00 over charge. This is not consistent with other issues.

Review: On Aug 25th, 2013 I used the car wash as I have many times over the last 8 years and used cash for the first 5 minutes but then still needed to continue washing after that expired so I used my credit card. I then finished the car in 4 minutes 57 seconds. I was watching this carefully so that is how I know this for sure. I am surprised to see that my credit card was charged $15.00 for this five minutes. I do not recall seeing anywhere that you are automatically charged $15.00 when using a credit card.....is that the case? Why was I not just charged for the 5 minutes?Desired Settlement: Please explain this process to me as I do not understand why my card was charged $15.00 for just under five minutes.

I explained that the cc companies charge everyone $15 & then adjust charge within a few days. Why I don't know. Thats what they do. I talked to [redacted] -nice girl- sent her $20 & thanked her for her business card told her to STOP by [redacted]'s Mexican food (next to carwash) and have lunch the next time she washes her car.

I have received a direct response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted]. I am more than happy with the owner's response. He did far more than he needed to resolve this situation and I will not hesitate to return to Mohawk Car Wash in the future. The owner of this business truly values his customers and it is very refreshing.
