Review: When the paint project was completed bubbling was noticed and we were led to believe the painter would be back in 2 weeks to do touchups. He was paid in full. Six weeks later we called him to come and see the areas that needed fixing. He was shown areas of inadequate paint coverage causing the base coat to be visible. Areas where an inadequate base coat was applied caused the top coat not to stick. In these areas the paint will scratch off with light fingernail pressure. This is mostly on the baseboards. Windowsills and trim were not prepped before being painted as agreed, dirt from open window or material scrapped off were painted over and/or no attempt made to patch holes. Floors were not adequately protected from paint splatter. The paint splatters were not cleaned up adequately. It has been frustrating as we continue to find new paint stains on our floors. We saw one of the painters spill paint on the hardwood floor. We have spent hours scraping paint and trying to get the paint out of the wood grain. There were two air vents not painted in spite of repeated reminders. During the last 2 days of the initial engagement the painter and assistant kept complaining about how old the house is as if this was an excuse for not doing a good job. This is not something that we, the home owners, want to hear over and over. The painter was aware it was an old house when he bid the job. We arranged for him to come and see our complaints. He began to immediately correct the painting problems. While doing this he got paint on four brand new Roman Shades. When we noticed this damage we could not allow him to continue. We could not risk further damage. He came to the house and we showed him the Shades. He agreed to pay for replacement Shades. To date he has not paid.Desired Settlement: We would like $580 to replace the damaged Roman Shades and $400 to hire a painter to complete the project.
