They did a wonderful job on my basement. We had a leak and they came out the same day I called. They removed my soaked carpet, dried everything out and found then removed all the mold. I am very satisfied with their work and the crew was great. I'm recommending them as well as using them again if needed.
Requesting reimbursement of $300 for repairs that were covered by warranty. I have requested said funds and sent address and proper name for check.
MJ was originally contacted in April 2018 to do remediation and renovation work at ***. This work was caused by frozen radiators bursting during the real cold period we had in January. My brother-in-law who owns the property does not live in the Maryland, so asked me to oversee the work that was to be done.
I had to call MJ because of a leak in the ceiling of the first floor bath which was part of the renovation performed by MJ. I texted Melissa about the problem on July 16. She requested pictures of the damage and I sent her pictures from my cell. She requested that Jonathan look at the work. I reminded her that the work was warranty by MJ for 1 year, not Jonathan. She said she could not get to it for 2 weeks. I expressed concern that with the weather we were getting, waiting that long could lead to further damage to the property. She wanted to send Rolando and I told her I did want Rolando to do the work, because of other problems I had with him the quality of his work. I was told on July 18, Dusty would be there to fix the problem. Dusty had fixed other problems we had with the work performed by MJ at this location. The first time it was the cold and hot water were not hooked up correctly, in addition to some other things that needed to be corrected. On July 20, texted Melissa to inquire about what was to be done, because Dusty did not show up. Melissa responded that she had issues with scheduling. Dusty did finally come and found the problem. A pipe had not been screwed properly and water was leaking from the pipe when the 2nd floor bathroom was used. Dusty said the area needed to dry and he would come back and repair the hole in the ceiling, mud and paint. After Dusty did not return the day he promised and after I had tried to call him myself I texted Melissa to find out what was going on. I was told he had a family event and court. I repeatedly texted asking for updated information on the status of the work to be completed. On August 1, I received a text saying that Dusty would be there on Tuesday. The company was busy and Dusty's truck broke down, were the reasons I was given. Suffice to say Dusty did not come on Tuesday. On August 7 at 11 a.m., I received a response to my email saying that she would let me know when Dusty was on his way. Then at 11:55 a.m., I get an email from Melissa saying John (her husband was mad and he laid everybody off). A subsequent email said that she would send a check for $300 to get someone else to do the job. I did that and have asked for the funds, she even acknowledged my request by asking who the check should be made to and where to send, it. I send her the information, but have yet to hear from her.
As stated above the reason we hired MJ in the first place was due to problems with our boiler during last winter. The boiler was not functioning properly and caused the radiators to burst throughout the over 200 year house. So we had to take every thing offline for the boiler, so MJ could do their work. We had the HVAC guy come to pressurize the boiler, last week. When he went in the cellar the check things he heard water running. After further examination he found that MJ had nailed a hole in a copper pipe and that had to be repaired. This was also in the first floor bathroom. To repair the pipe, framing, drywall and paint, it will cost us another $600 to fix everything. So I am requesting an additional $600 to cover the cost of fixing the nailed pipe and repairing things related to that. That would be a total of $900.00 to satisfy this issue which is part of the warranty from MJ.
I am requesting the original $300 that was promised by MJ as part of their warranty for the unscrewed pipe in the first floor ceiling. In addition, I am requesting an additional $600 to fix a copper pipe that they hit with a nail causing damage to the pipe, water damage to the bathroom, framing has to be repaired, drywall replaced and repaired. As a result, because this is third issue we have had to deal with relating to work that was done by MJ, we need a mediator to settle any additional problem that we may have in the future with this contractor.
I sent a check in the mail for $350. Even though we went above and beyond of hours upon hours trying to get Mr Jackson a full refund back from his insurance company. So really it needs to be paid back to the insurance company. This man had me in tears on the phone I worked so hard for him to get him fully refunded to do his whole shower over again when the tile did not match.
Check is in the mail

Sending a check for $350.00 does not cover the $600.00 damage as a result of nailing a hole in the copper pipe for the radiator going from the first floor bathroom to the second floor bathroom. So the amount is short by $550.00.
That's fine. I will submit remaining payment. Even though homeowner neglected to pay remaining balance for all the extra work that was completed.
Only because of the way they handled the situation and agreed upon a amount and then was dishonest when making final payment. Which I have on record. But this was the way it was the whole time.
We even purchased all The materials for his other apartment which he then hired a unlicensed contractor to complete that work behind your back. Mind you it was about $2500 worth of materials. But at this point I wanted nothing to do with this job. I will send a check in the mail

We are willing to accept the MJ Home Services offer of $300.00 for the refund of work that done per their request, because they chose to not complete the work themselves.
In addition, to our second issue of the nail in the copper pipe, we accept them paying us $600.00 to get that work fixed.
However, it is important to note that we have not received any funds from the MJ Home Services at this date. Initially they were to send a check of $300.00, on August 7, 2018; per an email sent by the company on that date. They even texted me to ask who the check was to made payable to and the address to send the check. This was after I made a follow up inquiry about where was the check. I texted the information to the company. But we have not seen any funds at this time.
MJ home services was great after my basement flooded. They came in and got all the mold out then waterproof it so I wouldn't have the mold problem again. Their customer service skills are through the roof and they definitely know what they're doing! I would highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done!
Complaints regarding unfinished work have gone completely ignored. I have emails to prove it.
MJ Services was hired to do some waterproofing work at our home in early 2017. They ripped out a basement powder room as well as some of the paneling/walls outside of the bathroom for mold remediation and were supposed to water proof inside of the bathroom as well as the area outside where the water continued to come into the house. They were also supposed to clean the gutter spouts. On the first visit, the two gentlemen they sent dropped tools in our toilet causing it to overflow and they did none of the outside work. A second person was sent out some weeks later to "fix" what they had done. We were informed that those gentlemen were fired for having done bad work too many times.
We were then told to keep the walls exposed until it rained a few times so we could see if water was still coming into the home. Our bathroom has been opened for over a year with countless emails back and forth between myself and MJ Services (mostly with a woman named Melissa) about them coming out to repair the work for which we have already paid! In the last few months, I have reached out about 3 times and gotten no response at all.
My husband and I now intend to seek the help of an attorney as we believe MJ Services did not fulfill the contract we had with them.
At this point, we would like to be refunded as MJ Services did not complete the work they stated they would - the gutters have still leaked from the same spots and water continues to come into our basement powder room. We intend to hire another contractor to complete this work.
We completed inside cleanup/water damage work for Ms ***. I even explained that once we were completed we might need a further inspection. We completed waterproofing. The job was total $2500.00. I would be happy to give her some money back for the waterproofing stage but we did a lot of work. We also found out when completing the remediation work in the basement bathroom that her toilet overflows a lot which was not made clear at first. So from initial inspection it looked to possibly be a plumbing problem. Does homeowner want some money back or for us to come back out?
We have tried to repair numerous times but think there is a greater issues it could be coming from a different areas all together. Please let me know what she is requesting?
We did complete the work in the scope. It just still is leaking. A full refund is outta of the question as we completed work. But I would be willing to give a portion back. Not admitting to fault as there could be a greater issue here. But just to help in this situation.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
I do not accept that my toilet overflows nor did I tell them that. In fact, I was told by the gentlemen that they fired that they may have dropped a tool into the toilet. Moreover, the problem has always been water coming in through the ceiling of the powder room. And if the waterproofing had been done correctly, this was no longer be an issue. Water continues to come into the area they claimed to have fixed through the outside steps they claim to have sealed. I agree that some work was done but because it was not done as outlined in our agreement and because they have not come back to ensure it was done as outlined in the agreement, I am requesting a partial refund of half the money we paid to them.
I would be happy to refund half of the monies. We did NOT drop anything in her toilet that is crazy.
We did not realize it was that bad until we started. I will get a check in the mail shortly for half refunded to Ms ***.
Thanks!
