Review: I own a property with my ex husband.

We called Mikes Plumbing for an estimate to replace a sewer lateral. Their website advertises free in home estimates.

We received an original estimate of $4000. When we called to schedule the work we received a work order to sign which had a new estimated price up to $12,000. Based on this increase in price we decided to select another company to perform the work. We notified Mikes Plumbing twice via email the price increase was more than we could budget and didn't want to proceed with the work.

It was at this point we received a call stating we owed a balance for the estimate. I asked how we could owe if the estimate was free. I was told they include the price with the final cost assuming you will have them perform the work. I made it clear to [redacted] and [redacted] we would not pay for an estimate.

We received an invoice clearly stating it was for the estimate.Desired Settlement: We would like the invoice to be voided.

We were contacted by [redacted]

[redacted] on 06-05-2014 to have the building sewer televised to determine what

the actual problem of the building sewer was roots, type of pipe, ect.

[redacted] was well aware that

there would be a charge to televise building sewer and it would be billed at

the time of the building sewer replacement. There was a verbal estimate to [redacted]

[redacted] to make the repairs to the building sewer which was very vague because

of all the unknowns which the original televising was included. There was never a work order proposal or

estimate for $12,000.00, it was only recommended to escrow additional money

because of all the unknown issues. Our

original verbal estimate for $4,000.00 included the original televising work

completed on 06-06-2014. Being that we are not doing the job this is being

invoiced separately.
