This is a complicated due to two businesses being involved. The first business is Midwest Barter Exchange. The second is ***.
Midwest Barter Exchange is a business that collects funds from businesses in order to barter services with other businesses. Midwest still receives funds from each agency, no matter if the barter works or not. In addition, there is no one to voice concerns too.
Through Midwest Barter Exchange our non-profit bartered with *** to keep our books starting in ***. In ***, we were contacted by *** stating she would no longer be handling our accounts. We asked for any backups of our finances and picked up all of our files. We hired another accountant and gave her all the information. She stated nothing had been added to our accounting software, ***, since ***.
We paid over $*** to Midwest Barter Exchange and it will cost us over $*** to have an accountant recreated all of our financial transactions from *** to ***.
Product_Or_Service: Accounting
Refund Refund from Midwest Barter for payments made for using *** and $*** from *** for costs incurred from her not providing accounting as agreed upon.

I reached out to Sandra ***. We are scheduling a meeting between *** and Midwest Barter Exchange to discuss resolution. Sandra and I will report the results of that meeting.
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
We were not able to meet on ***, due to illness. We have rescheduled for ***.
I met with ***, Sandra *** and the Board president on *** I Explained again to Sandra that Midwest Barter Exchange is NOT an arbitrator, negotiator, mediator, babysitter or referee. If *** has a problem with *** then that problem needs to be handled between *** and themselves. Midwest Barter is a third party record keeping service and is NOT liable for the actions of businesses in our network. I went over this in fully transparent detail with *** and his wife when they initially joined Midwest Barter Exchange. It is very important that I say here that I offered to meet with the board to present Midwest Barter Exchange to the board from the very start thus, eliminating any of this sort of misunderstanding about our role in but *** said it wasn't needed.
In spite of the above statement, I wanted to find a resolution that would be acceptable to both businesses.
I contacted *** and told her about the complaint and that I needed her help in getting this resolved. She agreed to refund all of the barter dollars billed (B*) and to wash her hands of the whole matter. Reversing the B* transactions would have resulted in a credit of the cash fees ($***) paid by *** as well.
*** feels that she has several reasons for terminating the relationship and those reasons will be explained in her response to this complaint.
I explained to the *** group that in order to do that they would have to continue to be a client at least as long as it took for them to spend out the remaining B* in their account.
This was not an acceptable solution to ***. Instead I was handed a very thinly veiled threat from Sandra by being told that it was in my best interest to make them happy because I didn't know who I was dealing with.
I personally raised all B* in donations and sponsorship revenue. I made myself available to *** with last minute needs for his golf tournament because he failed to leave sufficient time to handle his tasks.
The board for *** is upset over spending B* on accounting and payroll work not done to their satisfaction BUT is walking away from more than B* and potentially as much as B* in revenue.
*** did contact me about being unhappy with *** on more than one occasion over the 8 months they worked with her and I passed on those concerns to *** each and every time. I even went as far as to tell *** if he was not happy with her service he should find someone else to do the work. He chose to take NO ACTION until *** terminated the relationship.
We have more than 15 years of experience as a barter exchange and this is our first ever Revdex.com complaint.
I am willing to do the following IF and ONLY if in doing so, *** will agree to report this complaint as RESOLVED.
I will reverse the transactions with *** and in doing so will credit *** account the cash fees of $***.
I will allow them 6 months to spend out the entire B* in their account FEE FREE including waiving the $*** the monthly maintenance fee. (The *** golf tournament is fast approaching and I can see opportunity for them to use the remaining dollars in their account to their advantage. Awards, banners, promotional items, printing, advertising... It is my sincere hope that over the next six months we can learn to work together, put our personality differences (or similarities) aside .
IF we are able to salvage this relationship in the next few months I will be happy to continue to promote *** to our network and to continue to raise revenue for the organization.
This is my offer for resolution. If this is not acceptable to *** then I request mediation by Revdex.com or the party of their choosing. We are a helping organization with a history of going the extra mile for our members and placing principals before personalities.
Not sure why this complaint was closed. During our meeting with Midwest Barter, they agreed to write a $*** check to *** to settle this disagreement. I see in Midwest Barter's response they have changed their mind. We would like to hold them to the agreement made during the meeting.
