Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing Reviews (%countItem)

As a result of water intrusion in our finished basement, we contacted Mid Atlantic Waterproofing to come to our home to attempt to identify the source of the water infiltration and to provide a quote for the repair work, for which a quote was provided on 12/5/19 and a deposit rendered on a credit card. He told us that the water infiltration problem required a waterproofing system at the cost of roughly $9521 (and that this would be the only way to solve the problem). Concerned with the destructive nature of water infiltration and the possibility of toxic mold (with kids that play in the basement), we contracted for the work and provided a deposit in the amount of $3,173. Upon the recommendation of the service provider, we removed the interior walls and performed mold remediation prior to any waterproofing work. With the interior walls removed, the service provider then came back the day before the work was scheduled to begin and indicated that it was instead identified that the water was flowing over the walls from above ground and down into the basement. He stated that the work agreement would be immediately cancelled as the scheduled waterproofing system (due to be placed the next day) including a sump pump, French drains and a water management system would not solve the problem for water coming in from above the walls. He indicated that we would receive the deposit back within several weeks since they were cancelling the job. Of course, Mid Atlantic never completed any work.

We then contacted a contractor to review the scope of work to fix the water issue. This company indicated that our guttering / grading was the source of the issue and agreed that a waterproofing system would not solve any problem.

Shortly thereafter, we completed the guttering / grading work and our water penetration issue has thankfully been resolved. Unfortunately, our issues with Mid Atlantic Waterproofing were just beginning.

As I write this complaint on June 24, 2020, we have yet to receive our returned deposit despite promises to the contrary from *** at Mid Atlantic.

Given the holiday season, we allowed some time for Mid Atlantic to return the deposit. When February came around and we had yet to receive the returned deposit, my wife contacted *** who indicated that the accounting department had turned over and they were behind in paperwork and that our deposit would be returned in March. Given the pandemic, we waited until May to reach out to Mid Atlantic so as to give them time to solidify their operations. I spoke with *** on numerous occasions in the middle and end of May and, ultimately, I was promised that the deposit would be refunded within two weeks (that would have been around June 11-12, 2020).

I called Mid Atlantic today and waited on hold with the receptionist for 30-40 minutes until he had to leave for the day. He read the history of our file and was utterly embarrassed by the lack of professionalism exhibited by Mid Atlantic. Despite my efforts to be transferred to someone who "makes the decisions" or has a role in management, he told me that he is not aware of anyone that would meet that classification. This same issue came up regularly when I spoke with Marie; members of management are apparently made unavailable to customers.

We have patiently waited for our $3,173 deposit refund for nearly 7 months. We have been promised the deposit return on many occasions and Mid Atlantic has continually failed to follow through on the promises. At this time, we are only seeking the return of our deposit; the deposit was to be returned nearly 7 months ago and it is not a difficult task.

As a lawyer, the issues described in this Revdex.com complaint go way beyond the return of a $3,173 deposit. In the event that the deposit is not returned immediately, we will compelled to take next steps.

SInce the company failed to respond to my Revdex.com complaint I was forced to file a complaint with the AG's office. They have basically disappeared and won't honor the 7 year warranty for pump replacement I paid for. I had a hard time finding an email address for this shady business so if anyone needs it I found the CEO's after much digging. I tried to put it here but it's not allowed.

Mid-Atlantic did waterproofing work on my basement and did not finish the job. I called them with many complaints, including water still getting into the basement. They also did work without a permit when a permit was required. When we called the office to arrange a fix, the number was no longer in service. I have not received completed work and an inspection.

I purchased a foundation waterproofing/water management service in Feb 22/2014. Recently my sump pump stopped working properly. Ive called all of there numbers and it just rings busy. I tried to email them and the email came back. Not sure if there still in business? If not they need to honor the warranty. Can you please help me in this matter. I just don't have the money for this I paid for the install in the beginning which was very pricy. Thank you again.

I had Mid-Atlantic out to waterproof my basement. I have had them out multiple times to fix the issues and I still have water in the basement. There was damage done to my property from the work they did. I have cracks in my walls and in the floor, the water is still getting into the basement. The water has damaged the water heaters and they had to be replace. I have tried to contact them but the number just rings and then hangs up. I have tried to email them with no response.

I had work done to my home in 2018, and your company prides itself with your history and great service record. I have a unfinished basement which I wanted to finish due to my growing family. I was assured, that after your work was complete I could finish my basement, after all you waterproofed the statue of liberty. 2 years dealing with you Newark Delaware office, 4 different managers who have left during this time, and multiple poor repairs Im still not water proofed. Today I was suppose to have, as per you manager, the matter fixed and the poor workmanship repaired. One guy shows up and says sorry but the manager just quit, he agreed with the poor workmanship that was already done. I sent him home and said have the head boss call me. Once again an excuse. A 14k job that looks like I did it, I should of known when you initially charged me 22k, then was told was an employee issue because they worked off commission. I want my basement done with the quality work promised so I can finish it!!!! Next step is legal action. Hopefully this gets the ball moving. Hands down worst customer service I have ever dealt with. I have documents and pictures showing this whole mess and cant get any relief. Please help, next course is legal action. I have so much more to add but Im running out of room. And when you guys came to fix the issues, 1 of the several times, you chopped into 1 of my footers by accident!!! And I have cracks in the flooring now, and spots that were fine that your company accidentally cut up because you were to close to footers.

I have attempted to email ***, who I thought was going to finally assist me. His email is not working now and every number I call for mid atlantic, you can get through, like the numbers were changed. I am truly at my last straw with them. I understand that we are in a crisis but this is consistent with what is expected of mid atlantic.

I spent almost $11,000 to install a sump pump drainage system and restore walls in my basement. The sump pump does not drain any water at all and the walls are still getting wet and crumbling. I question why I was sold this expensive sump pump/ drainage system in the first place since there is never flooding in the basement only moisture penetration in the walls caused by hydrostatic pressure. A subcontractor did the work when I was assured of a trained professional. The subcontractor who sent in unexperienced workers and did not comply to the contract was fired. There were numerous cancellations and no shows to "finish" the work and attempts to resolve complaints took persistence to schedule and were unsuccessful. The technician dumped 12 large buckets of water in the sump pump with no discharge. First he couldn't understand why there was no discharge and then said its not a problem. Another example of incompetence is one technician confused the AC discharge pipe with the sump pump discharge pipe and tried to repair cracks in the wall using his hands to apply the cement so it looked like something from a Rocky Horror Show. I was accused of being overly worried about aesthetics. The exterior walls have continued to form hair line cracks and now there is visible signs of water penetration that is gradually worsening. The interior wall was coated with chalky parge and is crumbling off in chunks. This is a lot of money spent for basement walls that are still getting wet and deteriorating. The initial work was started in May 2019 and has been a never ending nightmare!

Ms. contracted with Mid Atlantic Systems on May 9, 2019 to have a water management system install along 29' of wall in her basement in addition to roughcasting that same wall. Work commenced on May 19, 2019 and completed on May 21, 2019. Subsequent to completion, 5 service calls with the first on July 6, 2019 and last being on September 14, 2019 were completed in order to address Ms. concerns. To summarize, I've attached a copy of the contract, a letter from the Inspector that Ms. contracted with, a timeline of events and photos from a July 6, 2019 service. Please contact me for additional photos that were taken at time of the remaining service appointments. Thank you.

Please note: I am responding by email to the second response from Mid Atlantic Waterproofing that I received on Tuesday 3/10/20, I am sending this email because I mistakenly clicked the tab to proceed before writing my comments, resulting in an empty response.

As of yet, I am not satisfied with the response from Mid Atlantic saying "I apologize for the late response. Someone will be in touch with Ms. to discuss the issues and come up with a plan to address them."

My complaints have not yet been satisfactorily resolved by Mid Atlantic Waterproofing and this is why: The current operations manager (Rich) called me on Friday 3/6/20 (in the late morning), saying he wanted to schedule a time to come to my home to resolve my complaints. He offered to come to my house either Monday or Tuesday afternoon (3/9 or 3/10/20), and I immediately rearranged my afternoon work schedule on Tuesday (3/10/20) and requested time off from my supervisor. Within an hour, I called the operations manager back and he agreed to come to my house between 2:30 and 3:00 pm on Tuesday (3/10/20). On Monday afternoon (3/9/20), I received a call from the receptionist/scheduler (Amber) that the next day appointment is being canceled because their one and only truck broke down. I requested time off from work once again and rescheduled the appointment on the following Tuesday (3/17/20) between 2:00 and 4:00 pm. This has been an ongoing pattern with Mid Atlantic Waterproofing of canceling appointments at the last minute, arriving late or not showing up at all. I am hoping that I do not have to take anymore time off from work and my complaints are soon resolved.

Thank you,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience, this truly was an unforeseen circumstance. Ms. can expect Rich there on March, 17, 2020 to assess the on-going issues.

A continuous water pooling at the bottom of the step of basement since 2002. They come out but never call back and we call again and they come back, but they do not do any work.

Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing Response • Dec 30, 2019

We did have a technician go out on October 4, 2019 to inspect this customer's system and determine the reason for the water that is pooling in their basement. When the system is installed, weep holes are drilled into the foundation to allow for the water to escape and run down into the trench from which it is led to a pit and pumped out. Track in installed in front of the weep holes to keep the water from emptying onto the floor. As you can see from the notes on the service ticket, their contractor cut the track exposing the weep holes. I have provided copies of the October 4, 2019 service ticket along with the pictures from the inspection.

Attached are receipts that we have concerning the same issue that we have been complaining about since the beginning. We had the work done on the basement one year ago due to the carpet being continually wet. If what they are pointing to has been cut by the contractor, it did not alter the condition. This has been ongoing since they did the work. As you can see in 2010 and 2011 they came out as well and the problem still existed. We just did not call all the time because we felt it was useless. The past three visits they told us they would contact us once they discussed it at the office. The same man came out all three of those visits. He apologized for no one getting back to us, however, still continued to not get back to us. If this costs additional money we have offered to compromise. They will not give us a proposal to fix the problem. I have had another reputable company come out and said that the even if the plastic was cut; that would not void their warranty. He thinks the drain is clogged, which is under the concrete. We have also twice sealed the driveway incase water was coming from the outside, which was Mid-Atlantic's advise. This basement has cost a fortune with the constant carpet replacement; not to mention the floor being redone in aproxy/cement. We would like Mid-Atlantic to once and for all make our basement waterproof as they claimed they could do. We would consider paying reasonable expenses for them to finish the job.

Mid-Atlantic Waterproofing Response • Jan 15, 2020

We would like to set up an appointment for management along with a technician to come out to open the floor and perform a water test of the system to check for clogs. If we could also get permission to water test from the top of the wall so that the path of the water can be tracked to be sure it is in fact entering the trench below that leads to the pit and pumped out.

Mid-Atlantic issues
1- They will promise you the world and provide you with many premeditated surprises. Be careful and never believe anything they say unless it is in writing in their contract with you.
2- Their manager Steve will give you a professional face at the beginning; once you sign and the 3 days (government grace period) passes, his true gang-star face will show. Steve will ignore you calls and lies about how busy he is as long as he got his money, customer do not matter.
3- Negotiate, negotiate and negotiate, initially they have me $30K quote with 1 yr. interest free loan. After one week of negotiation, they agreed to $16K and 2 yrs. interest free loan. That tells you that if you pressure them enough, they will come down on their bloated high price.
4-Use them only if you absolutely have to.
5- Take your time in shopping around for this because it takes many year for water issues to cause harm to your property. Shopping around for as long as a year would not make a difference in the long run to your property but it to your bank account.
6- Make sure to read their waste and gas line clauses in your contract because they try to add change/amendment to your contract using their terms on waste and gas. Read their contract carefully (5 times at least). They have very manipulative management in deeded.

The sellers I purchased the property from had large amounts of water in crawl space. They spent $24,000 to fix problem. I moved I on June 6, 2019. I'm 73 and never go down there. I had Verizon over on June 16, 2019. He said it was a mud pit. I need to have other work done that requires going into the crawl space. How is hat going to be possible. I was told today, June 19, 2019 that they are only responsible for the perimeter and will do nothing about it. $24,000 and they won't clean up the mud.

I believe I closed my claim in error. There has been no contact and no resolution since filing said claim.

My claim # is 13629854

Mid Atlantic Waterproofing

They say according to the contract, they are not responsible for mud pit. I have no copy of contract since

it was a transferable contract and I'm not the one who hired them.

If they in fact dug a trench around the perimeter, what did they do with the mud they dug out? It was not carried out or away because I passed the house every day.

Please re-open.

Thank You

This house has a 24" concrete crawlspace. The previous owners signed a contract to install a concrete cove plate system not a sub-floor pressure relief system. With that being said, there was no need to break the floor for installation. The mud that she is seeing existed prior to Mid Atlantic installing the system. I have provided site pictures for your review of the crawlspace prior to any work being performed. Previous homeowner was

On Jan 16, 2018 MIdatlantic Waterproofing of De ( MAWP) installed a water mgmt system to resolve water in my basement stairwell landing for $14000 ). Since installation water continues to be in the basement stairwell. In addition, within 2 months of the installation, what has been identified to me as stachybotrys (black), mold has appeared on the wall at the site of the system's installation. I have been attempting to resolve this issue for the past 8 months through at least 8 visits to my home by 3 different individuals. This is adequate opportunity for them to resolve this. Their proposed answer is to install another system to resolve the original problem that the first system did not correct. I have made overtures to resolve this. Again, their answer is to install another system for more money. They have stalled and put me off by not returning calls and out of office reply and refused to provide any alternative contacts to resolve this. It has been time consuming, aggravating, disappointing, costly and now potentially dangerous to have the issue go unresolved. In addition, I have been unable to use my finished basement living areas as the drywall has been removed in places, the foundation is exposed, and dampness and odor are evident.

I had a chance to speak with the General Manager of this office. First, the production department called numerous times and left messages in an attempt to schedule but received no return call. Finally, *** did call in and gave them a different number than what was on file. On Friday, Nov. 2, 2018, the GM spoke with *** and offered a $5,000 reimbursement check she said she would think about it and call him back. When she did call back he was gone for the day so left a message this morning and was going to follow up with another call after I spoke with him. At this point he is waiting a return call from ***.

Back in 2016 Mid-Atlantic came out and put in a waterproofing system. Since installed I have continued to have issue with water in the basement. Mid-Atlantic has had to come out 3 times now to FIX this issues. This is now going to be the 4th time someone has to come out. Each time I am told that the water will not get into the basement. I can not continue to have water in my basement. I have items that have been damaged due to the water.

The General Manager met with Mr.. He and the Production Manager came up with a solution to fix the problem. Mr. agreed to move his hot water heaters so the our service technicians can access the wall behind them. He will call the office once they are moved so that a service appointment can scheduled. We appreciate Mr. working with us to resolve this matter.

We initially got Mid-Atlantic's information from a colleague who previously had work done through this company, so when our basement had a small flood/issue with the new french drain, I figured we would give them a call.

I was happy to hear they would come out to do a free consultation, however, that consultation was a bit more like a sales pitch to try to sell us over $20K worth of work, that we really did not need to spend. He then proceeded to write out three different tiers of pricing, which to me (coming from a background in sales) seemed to be a sales gimmick and he already knew the bottom line pricing, to get down to $15K if we had everything done in the next week. No other options were given by the person Mike who came out, and he wanted an answer yes or no that night. When I proceeded to tell him we (my boyfriend and I) would discuss this and get other opinions to see if this was indeed our only option, he proceeded to ask if we could get back to him by Monday latest. I again told him we would have to think long and hard before investing such an amount of cost and work.

After speaking with someone that Monday, Debbie said that their Senior Inspector would come out personally to assess everything and give us some options that cost much less. When I requested that this time the appointment be during the daytime, this seemed to be shocking, however, I know that our situation is not nearly half as bad as Mike made it out to be.

After scheduling the second appointment for a Saturday during the day, I figured this would be a better outcome. Upon calling my phone to confirm the appointment, Zachary said that both my boyfriend and myself needed to be at the appointment. I proceeded to tell him that he would be at work and that I would be the person to give the final decision, and if this still did not lead anywhere I rather not waste my boyfriend's time since time = money. The appointment was canceled and a follow-up call made to Mid-Atlantic.

HOMEOWNER'S BEWARE!!!!! I would suggest doing research, reading reviews, and seeing what you can do to fix the situation DIY, with a reputable contractor/business that will actually give you the information and options you need, rather than flash all the certificates and places that the company has done in a dated binder. Actions speaking louder than words and we were not at all pleased with this company!!!!

I recently had Mid Atlantic Waterproofing do some work in my basement. I had a pair of Bose headphones hanging on the arm of my treadmill that I use every day. After the work was completed I noticed that the headphones were missing. I spoke to Tim at the company and was asked to take another look around the basement. After having everyone in my household look for them, they were not found. I have called the company 3 times with no call back. I am not disputing that the basement was repaired but I feel violated having someone in my house that takes things that don’t belong to them. Maybe worse is that Mid Atlantic takes no responsibility for my missing property. *** has been a huge disappointment.

Thank you for reaching out to me in regards to Mr. ***. First I want to apologize for not having someone get back to you in a timely manner.

My response to the complaint is simple, I reached out to Mr. a few moments ago to ask about the Headphones and he told me that the problem had been resolved some time ago. He also stated that he was quite happy with the system we installed and would recommend us to anyone who asked about it.

Please let me know when this is closed out for my records.

Thank you
