February 27, 2015. At that time her account was adjusted leaving a balance of $40.00 for her January and February membership. She had been billed through March and the March fees were removed from her account.
In conversation with our accounting staff, complainant stated that she did not notify anyone that she was not renewing her membership, including her broker, the association that she belonged to or MARIS. She simply stopped paying.
Our rules are clear that a member must notify MARIS prior to the last business day of the previous month to avoid current month fees. As complainant did not notify us by December 31, 2014, she owes membership fees for January and February. We do not track whether or not Complainant accessed the system during January or February as our fees are membership based and not usage based. Complainant has been assessed a $5.00 late fee for failure to pay her account in a timely manner.
