My father *** passed away 3/2019 and I contracted The Tomaszewski Funeral home to provide my fathers services. Under the contract I paid in full for his services which as of today’s date 7/17/2020 have not been fulfilled. Mass cards were printer with error which he promised to correct and send new and never happened. Thank you cards in contract were never received, and lastly my fathers headstone death date has not been completed in which was paid in full on as per contract. I have made numerous phone calls and visits to the funeral home and to no avail have they been addressed. I also have further concerns of the way they conduct business which is also being investigated by the ***. Please contact me in regards to this matter.
Business returned a call to me and stated he sent the consumer a check for $530.00 as she requested.
My mother, *** passed away on April 21 2017. Previously we had arranged a prepaid funeral for her. The actual funeral went quite well and we were very happy with the funeral home's efforts on our behalf. Approximately six months after the funeral we noticed that the year of death had not been engraved into her stone. This was part of the agreement that we had paid for. We called the funeral home and spoke with Michael. He apologized and said they would have it taken care of. Eight months later on June 9, 2018 the stone had still not been carved . We again called the funeral home and the owner's excuse was that he was too busy and that it's been a difficult year and he hasn't been able to get around to it. As you might well imagine we were incensed by that response, as was everyone in ***'s family, at the other lack of respect he was showing for the family and the angst that he was causing us. At that point we demanded that within 30 days he have the stone carved and he agreed to refund the $200 that we had paid to have the carving done . As I write this on July 19th, fully 40 days after the phone call and 10 days after the deadline, the stone is yet to be carved and we have yet to receive the $200 check from Michael. The family is totally stunned by his total disregard to attend to the simple matter of having 4 numbers carved on a piece of stone as well as to write out the refund check like he had promised. We are at a total loss to try to solve the problem because Michael simply doesn't seem to care. The phone call that we placed to him in June also included a list of actions we would take against him if he didn't take care of this situation. Contacting the Revdex.com was one of the options that we told him we would pursue. We are hoping that you are able to find some resolution to this ridiculously simple issue of carving 4 numbers on a headstone and mailing out a check for $200 . Thank you for your time and efforts on our behalf.
Phone response - I have issued the $200 return and I have an engraver that is going to finish the stone. I sincerely apologize for the delay.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
Our issue with the Michael S Tomaszewski funeral home was that the stone for my mother was never engraved by him and that he had been paid for this service. The response from the funeral home has been that they have sent us a check for $200. That only satisfies one part of our complaint.
The funeral home has now stated that they will engrave the stone “soon“. This has been promised to us multiple times and yet has never been done. At this point we have been promised multiple times and the funeral home has never delivered on that promise. For this reason we ask that the case be kept open until the stone is actually engraved.
