My complaint stems from the way this dental office handles billing procedures. In July 2012 I took my two boys for routine cleanings. The dentist's office took [redacted] and [redacted] for each of the boys. In December 2012 I took the boys again for their bi-yearly cleaning and again the office took[redacted] and [redacted]. In late January 2013 I received two invoices each in the amount of $32.00 which I believed was the difference between what the dentist charged and what the insurance co. paid. However, this was not the case and when I disputed the invoices with the dentist's office, the receptionist ([redacted]) became very defensive and yelling about the fact that the dentist has the right to perform this service and then bill the patient. When I checked with my insurance co. they advised that we are covered and the boys qualified for full mouth [redacted] once every year. I believe the dentist had full knowledge of this as this information is in their charts and, if he did not, his staff should check on eligibility and advise the patient. She continued to say that I should have checked on my eligibility and what services I am entitled to and that I should have let the office know. She was being very rude, disrespectful and unprofessional in the way she answered my questions and concerns. I believe this is a tactic used by the office so that the dentist's office can bill the patient for more services which are not necessary (in this case extra [redacted]).
