Review: We have contracted Mennenga for a decade to do our taxes annually, with all it's attendant services. Last year, my wife and I were informed by the Federal Government that there was an error on our taxes. We informed Mennenga both by email and sent the documents by mail. We received no response. We later received from the Government a warning to pay. Our next email to Mennenga was ignored. We began to telephone, to no avail. My wife, [redacted] made an appointment with Mennenga and informed them of this oversight. Then we were fined by the government. Still, no action was taken by Mennenga, nor contact. The service contract with Mennenga stipulates that professional, financial advice is part of the tax service. At this point in December, 2013 we have been ignored by this operation for over one year! This has caused undue stress and financial strain, as well as threatening our good standing with the IRS with unpaid tax.Desired Settlement: I would like Mennenga Tax and Financial to follow through on the following items:1.) Resolve the tax underpayment mistake of theirs and inform of of how much we need to pay. 2.) Be responsible for paying the overdue fine. 3.) Commit to their contractual obligations to us, their customer.4.) Inform us as to any damages incurred in the future as a result of their negligence, such as credit report weaknesses or IRS propensity to be audited.

Response:
Dear [redacted] & [redacted],
Let me first apologize for the length of time that it has taken to respond to the IRS
letter that you received for Year 2010.
Enclosed are the following items:
1. A federal amended return for 2010 with the additional income from Citi
showing a balance due of $202.00. Both of you should sign where
highlighted, enclose a check for $202.00(payable to "US Treasury") and
mail in the envelope provided. The IRS will assess interest and I will get a
copy of the notice and we will pay the amount.
2. An amended Wisconsin return for 2010 for the same reason. The balance
due to Wisconsin is $184.00 which includes $48.00 of interest. Both of you
should sign where highlighted, enclose a check for $184.00(payable to
"Wisconsin Revenue") and mail in the envelope provided.
3. A check from our firm for $48.00 to cover the Wisconsin interest.
4. An IRS Form 2848 for each of you, appointing me as Power of Attorney
for your 2010 tax return. The POA allows the IRS to send me any
additional notices - like the interest due amount. Please each sign them
and return them to my office.
Once again, I apologize for the slow reactions by our firm.
As always, if you have any questions please call me at [redacted] or email
me at [redacted]
