I have been a valued customer at this Meineke loaction, the one and only Meineke location in *** Texas for about two years. My experience changed on January 8th, 2020 that I will further discuss down below. On July 11th, 2019, I took my 2002 Dodge Ram into the shop to have it serviced and aligned. After waiting for about two hours, one of the mechanics comes out and explain to me that they were having a difficult time completing the alignment on my vehicle and that he would need to order additional parts to make the job successful. Out of pure trust of those guys because of my previous great experiences, I took his word for it and allowed them to o through with ordering the additional parts needed to complete the alignment on the truck. After it was all said and done, I ended up spending about $1,250 for the complete job of an alignment. After reviewing my receipt, I was over-priced for the parts and labor for the job. The alignment job came with a 6-Month Warranty and so I never thought it would come in had until just recently I started hearing medal popping each time I attempted to steer my truck in either direction. So to be sure that it wasn't anything to do with the alignment job that was completed, I contacted the shop and asked if someone could take a look at it for me and that if it was something additional to the alignment job, that I would pay out of pocket for the repairs. After asking to have the truck checked out, the manager instantly begin to get very rude and denied me an opportunity to have the truck checked out. He even went as far to permanently ban me from the shop for no reason! I was very respectful in my phone call and gave no reason for the reaction/response that I received from him. There aren't any other Meineke shops nearby and my warranty expires in 2 days. I trusted those guys to take care of me and I've spent thousands of hard earned dollars there, to only be wrongfully and unlawfully banned, mistreated and taken advantage of.
My name is *** I am the current manager for Meineke Car Care Center *** This customer did have a repair made to his vehicle, which required the upper control arms to be replaced due to very loose ball joints. Although that repair was done 6 months ago, I recall that the customer viewed the condition of the ball joints at that time. The total of that repair order was $1124.94, but also included an oil change, additional camber/caster parts to perform alignment, and 2 lugnuts. We do not charge more than list price for parts. We are able to buy parts from parts suppliers at a discounted price, and we mark them to list price. This is an industry standard practice. We also follow labor guide time using Mitchell Labor Guide. Mr *** was also given $30 discount as he is a student. Mr *** did come in on or about Jan 9 or 10th. We discussed the popping noise and we both looked at his vehicle in the parking lot. I wasn't able to verify the concern, or see anything loose or moving. We agreed that we would have a technician check his vehicle the next day, and he left. A couple hours later he called back to ask us to just perform an alignment, because that was still under a 6 month/6k mile warranty. I only stated that doing an alignment, most likely, wasn't going to fix a noise concern, and that I would have the techs check for the noise concern first. Mr *** began attacking my character and yelling. Yelled that I never want to help him, and I've marked up parts to over charge him. This isn't the first time that he has complained that we shouldn't mark up parts. He has also expressed this concern to others about us. At this time, I don't believe that I can continue to provide services for Mr ***. I haven't "Unlawfully" banned him, but have exercised my right to refuse to perform services based on our history and Mr ***'s behavior. At times Meineke will record phone calls. I have attached that recording.
Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: I have never displayed any inappropriate behavior. I ask that Meineke share with me any reports or previous phone calls that would indicate inappropriate behavior at this place of business. I was also not aware of the arm bar situation at the time of placing the truck in the shop. As *** mentioned, I was there for an oil change. *** was very unsupportive of the situation as if he had something to hide. I am aware that shops mark up prices on parts to make money, but to mark up the price of parts by doubling the price is unfair and a scam. The average mechanic shop does mark ups between 1.5 and 1.7. Not to mention that he increased the labor hours to make more money. *** gave me a 30 dollar discount and I almost had to beg him for it. Iv'e done business there at that Meineke location many of times over the past year or two and have never had any complaints on my behavior. Iv'e spent thousands of dollars on repairs. I have missed the opportunity to have the alignment be redone. I never expected for the noise to go away by redoing the alignment but one couldn't tell without actually getting underneath the truck to check it out. I have a new invoice from a new Meineke location that explains that there may very well be problems with the previous work done on the truck at ***s Meineke location. Not to mention, *** included the 6 Month Warranty on my alignment without my permission. I never asked for an alignment warranty and I was bill about $89 dollars for it. He is a total ripoff and he did everything that he could to take advantage of a college student that was just looking to keep his truck in good condition. I will report him and that Meineke location to Ripoff Report.
