McHugh Company replaced my roof in December, 2013. November, 2017 I had hail damage on my roof and had to get my roof replaced. Upon removing the shingles we found the underneath decking had rotted through in several places. My current contractor told me that the previous roof installation wasn't done right and that lead to repeated leaks over the 4 years time frame leading to rotted decking. We called Mr. McHugh immediately and showed him the damage. He tried to evade responsibility saying the problem existed before hand. His original bill clearly says he replaced rotted areas at $50/sheet. He agreed to pay me a reasonable compensation to replace the rotted sheets. It has been about 3 months since he has been promising to "come by the house to pay". I should not have to beg Mr. McHugh to treat customers with dignity, he delivered an inferior product and should take responsibility.
This roof was done about 5-6 years ago. I was contacted by another contractor re-roofing the house. I was told there was bad decking due to leaking. The contractor already had the roof torn off and some of the roof decking removed. I could see no evidence of a problem. The consumerism had not contacted me prior to this but suggested I should pay for the new decking. I should have been contacted prior to the removal of the existing roof system. My conversation with the roofing contractor was that I had no evidence anything was done incorrectly during installation and I would not be paying for the removal or replacement of the decking. My issue was not with the contractor but with the homeowner. The homeowner and I came to the agreement that I would pay him $300 towards the work but we could never find a time to resolve the issue by meeting. If the homeowner would like to abide by the original terms I would be happy to pay the amount $300 towards the work that was done. Otherwise I cannot accept responsibility for a problem I had no proof of.
This has not been resolved , I refuse to except anything under what I paid to have it repaired.
The work was done in 2013 with a 2 year workmanship warranty, even though this was out of warranty I did try to help the consumer who refused our offer.
In May of 2016 our St Charles area was devastated by a rain and hail storm. In excess of 75% of the houses in the Estates of Austin Ridge needed their roof replaced. I contacted with The McHugh Company to replace my roof, gutters and down spouts. I am very pleased with the work done by The McHugh Company, including handling the estimates and paperwork required by my insurance company. But, more importantly Dennis McHugh of The McHugh Company checked back with me on three different occasions to ensure I was still satisfied and made improvements on the work completed. To me the concern the Company had for his client was as important as the initial installation.
Dennis and his crews did a great job on my roof and siding. He was on site everyday to make sure we were happy with the progress. The job was done on time. The cleanup was excellent. Very professional.
