I purchases a time share in Sept 2015. When I purchased, I as told the following.
• It would be easy to book reservation at my home resort
• I could easily book reservations at other resorts
• It is not a problem to sell it back. There is a market for resale
Since then I have learned that none of this is true. I have learned that only 10% of the resort is available to owners at any given time. I have not been able to get a preferable date in spite of being told I would. I booked far in advance as was suggested. I stayed away from school vacations and holidays as suggested. Access to choice dates, any dates at all, have been a complete lie.
I am an active member of the military in the National Guard and a full time fire fighter. I do not have a typical schedule. My status for travel can change quickly. My work dates are not flexible. I tried to compromise with you, but you would not compromise for me.
The one time I used the resort, I couldn’t get my actual dates or my resort and had to compromise going to a different resort in Cancun. Once I got there, the Hotel was nice, but not what I expected. I could have reserved it on my own through Expedia as many of the other guests had done for a fraction of the cost. It was not worth what I am paying for. The next time I tried to book, there was nothing available except in Florida. It felt like “leftovers”. Cancun had been nice, but I paid for Hawaii, not Florida. Not Cancun. Hawaii.
At this point, owning this timeshare is useless to me. I am now divorced and am stuck with it. I don’t want it for many reasons, that being one of them. Communicating is like pulling teeth. Emails and phone calls are not returned. I get the run around when I do reach someone. Surely the timeshare could be taken back and resold under the buyback program as I was told it could be. Instead, I was told you don’t do that, and was aggressively upsold! My request to sell it back was completely disregarded. But I was told if I can’t afford it, just to stop paying. You don’t care about default or foreclosure. Well I care about my credit. I wound up putting it on the market myself. I posted it online for sale for 2 years. It didn’t sell.
I can’t afford to keep this. It is a struggle, but I am current on my fees and payments. I have been lied to from the beginning and have no reason to continue this ownership, especially under such false pretense.
I booked a stay at the hotel advertised on this website. I received a confirmation back to confirm the booking that included all the correct fees that had been posted on the website. Later on I received an email that the rates going to be raised and they were going to charge me an additional $3000 over the 18 nights that I had booked. At the time I received this email I again checked the website and discovered that the rate I was expecting to pay was still posted on the website.
