Review: I purchased a mattress from this company on 06/21/14. Prior to purchase, my wife and I tested the mattress we were planning to purchase and had been familiar with the product as we tested it at various other retailers, as well. I paid for the product (I was advised by the owner to utilize a "debit" transaction) and brought it home. As I unwrapped the product, I discovered it was very much unlike the product I purchased and was a much cheaper quality. We took pictures to document the deficit. I attempted to return the product the next day (06/22/14) and they refused to accept it, although I did leave the product inside of their warehouse due to not wanting/needing to take it back to my home. They refused to provide a refund our $473.85 despite the defective/incorrect product.Desired Settlement: I desire to have our $473.85 returned in the form of cash. NOT store credit or a check.

Have the customer send you a copy of their receipt of the merchandise purchased at Mattress Land.

I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
The business informed me to upload a receipt and I will.
I assume Mattress Land believes that because they have a No Money Back Policy
that they shouldn't have to give me my money back. I would normally agree, but
they gave me a completely different product from the one they had on display.
The problem isn't that I wasn't satisfied with their product. The problem is I
never got the product!. They gave me a different product and slapped a label on
it. I couldn't tell it was different because they had it in plastic wrap. This
is fraud. Not an unsatisfied customer. The company operates in a low level income
area and takes advantage of Hispanic people. The salesman at Mattress Land even
talked about his unfortunate business transactions he has with Hispanics. He
told me he has to draw a smiley face and write a number to see if they like the
price. Please help me not only get my money back, but get this business out of
our community. People deserve better than this.

[redacted] and his Girl Friend/Wife purchased a Queen Mattress Set from Mattress Land on 21 June 2014 sales ticket #[redacted] came in later to pickup his purchased Mattress set and took the mattress set home with him new in plastic. Later [redacted] and his father came back in the store and said he did not get the right mattress set. I told him we only get one style in pillow top from the factory but the manufacturer changes cover styles and names about every six months on the models but they are still the same bed under the mattress cover. Mr [redacted] said he wanted the exact bed like he laid on during the original purchase.
After looking into Mattress Land’s store stock we found a new in plastic Queen Mattress set exactly like Mr, [redacted] wanted. At that point I said we would be happy to exchange mattress sets with him so he would have the correct mattress set and on the plastic bag that the mattress was in a large black X was put on to mark it. Mr [redacted] agreed that would bring back the first set for exchange for the correct set with the black X on the plastic and the problem would be solved. But Mr. [redacted] came back to the store when my helper was on duty and demanded a refund and left the original purchase at the store without my consent or authorization. I told my helper to ask Mr, [redacted] did he want me to donate his purchase to the Local Goodwill or Salvation Army in his name?
In the past some customers may have a guest who wants to stay overnight but they have no place for them to sleep and they buy a new mattress set for them to sleep on but try and bring it back to the store for a refund the next day.
Mr [redacted] knows that mattress labels are put on the mattress sets at the mattress factory licensed by the manufacturer not as he claims slapped on.
Mattress Land’s Store policy is printed on every customer receipt----All Sales Final
But in an effort to resolve this issue Mattress Land still has the set Mr [redacted] picked out with the X clearly marked on the Mattress Bag.
Normally delivery to Mr [redacted]s home in Weyers Cave is $45.00. But to show there is no hard feeling on this matter- Mattress Land is willing to Deliver Mr [redacted]’s purchased mattress set to Mr [redacted] at his Weyers Cave home FREE OF CHARGE.

Whether or not the labels were slapped on or professionally placed doesn't matter to me. What matters to me is that I get the same mattress that was on display. The mattress that was on display was of a higher quality than the one they tried to give me. As for the "x" labeled mattress, it still wasn't the same mattress as the one they had on display. The "x"labeled mattress was also of a lesser quality as I noticed when I came in the next day. If it were the mattress they had on display, I would have walked out satisfied.
Mattress Land of Harrisonburg knows that the mattresses they have on display are not the same they give to the customers. If I would have known that the product were of a lesser quality I would not have accepted this transaction. This label scam needs to be dealt with. People work hard for their money and it is not right that a company like Mattress land of Harrisonburg can trick people into buying lesser grade products with the same labels.
They keep telling me they will give me a product to resolve my complaint. After being initially scammed, I do not want their product. That is why I returned the mattress. I want my money back and I want Mattress Land of Harrisonburg to stop using label scams to take advantage of people.
