Review: I met with Matt F[redacted], CPA, on 2-4-16 for him to prepare my taxes. I called his office and left a message as he needed my son's social security number. I left my son's social security number and that I had documentation from my new place of employment regarding health coverage and should not be penalized. My taxes were ready for pick up and payment on 2-14-16. I paid $170 for him to prepare my taxes (I have a copy and check number for payment) My tax refund (as in writing from Matt F[redacted]'s office) stated I was to get $2097. On 2-26-16, the IRS deposited $1667 in my account (as I have a statement in writing). I called Matt F[redacted]'s office on 2-26-16 and left a message regarding this matter. After a week went by, I called the IRS who told me according to what he submitted I was to get $1667. I called Matt F[redacted]'s office again and spoke with his secretary. His secretary informed me that there was a discrepancy between what was submitted to the IRS and my copy in regards to the health care. My copy stated I was penalized $143 and what was submitted stated $543. She told me that she would let Matt F[redacted] know and he would call me back. The last call I made to Matt F[redacted]'s office was on 3-4-16 in which I was told he had not looked at my file yet and would get back to me. There was basically nothing more I could do. Here it is 3-18-16 and after a month (3 phone calls) of trying to get this matter resolved, I have yet to get a return phone call. He got paid for his services, made a mistake, and now will not rectify it in a timely manner. I should not have been penalized at all for health care as I have documentation I had it for the one month in question - August (transition between jobs). He got my message regarding the health care documentation, because he wrote my son's social security number on documents, but never returned my call before preparing my taxes to obtain the health care documentation. I am uploading (trying to) 4 pertinent documents. I can email if needed.Desired Settlement: I would like Matt F[redacted] to make the correction to my health care penalty, as I will submit the documentation if he needs it, and get my tax refund resubmitted to the IRS. The IRS told me when a mistake is made the person completing the tax return has to resubmit. This is his mistake and since getting paid, he has neglected to make the correction or return my phone calls which is costing me in a tax refund.
