I hired this company to fix the leaky piping in my bathroom. He came out and looked at it and had his assistant fix it while he was chatting with my husband. Though the leaking stopped from behind my bathtub, it was still leaking from the faucet. Well he was here a little over an hour and charged me $157.00. But he did not do what I asked him to. I wanted the pipes replaced as they were old and rusty. He kept going on about how the pipes in my basement were out of code and that it was going to be a real chore to replace the old and rusty pipes. He quoted me a figure that was outrageous for the job I wanted done. I gave him the check for the day's work and he left.
So my husband called him to get him back out here. He said he was going to show up on a particular day and didn't. Then he just showed up one random day while I was at work and said he was going to come back. He never did.
It's been over a month now and I have not heard a peep out of him. So I had another plumber come out with much cheaper prices and he replaced everything. The pipes and the faucet.
I will not be recommending Martin's Plumbing and Repair and I will not be using their services again. They are slack, too expensive, and try to up sell you to get more money out of you while not fixing your problem. Terrible service. I wish I had gone with the plumber I did and that $157 would have gone to him instead because he's the one who took the time to actually "fix" my problem and prevent me from having the problem in the near future.
Review: Martin Plumbing was hired to install a water main line. They installed the line and left a large part of my lawn destroyed. They also re-used the old pressure reducer valve after I paid for a new one. I would not hire them again.Desired Settlement: I want my lawn repaired and the new part I paid for installed.

Response:
Hello, This is my rebuttal to case # [redacted]. Let me first say that I have been in business
in the plumbing business with the same name since Feb. 16 , 1976, first with a class B
license and in 1993 l took the test for a class A license and passed the first time I tried. I
have never had anyone ever file a complaint against my co. until now. I normally work for the
local old time customers that I have had for many years and whom I trust and they in return
trust me. We accepted this job because Mr. [redacted] had a bad leak and needed some help
quickly. Now, I did contract with Mr.[redacted] on 02-27-2014 to install a new water line from the
town meter to inside his basement (see attached contract) in which I did not agree to
furnish any of the items inside his house like the cut-off , pressure reducing, or back flow
valves which he already had in his basement. I also told him his yard would not be
landscaped , it would only be back filled as good as I could with a large backhoe in a small
area, which I also put in his contract and he signed it and got a copy . When we started to
work replacing the water line, which by the way was in a completely different new area of
his yard, because of obstructions,i.e. a large concrete porch that was over the existing
broken water line, we accidentally dug into his sewer line which had not been located
properly by the "Miss-Utility group. We repaired the sewer line, putting ¡n a clean out for his
future convenience should he reed it, and at no extra cost, and after installing the water
line we connected it back into the house system using what was good ¡n his existing
connection,of which the cut-off valve was bad so I replaced it at no cost to the customer
along with a new back-flow valve ,again at no cost to him. Back filling was done as well as
could be with the large machine in a tight area and lots of rocks. After Mr [redacted] called and
complained about him having to fix his own yard, which he had previously agreed to, I sent 2
(two) men to his house to help fix his yard. They worked for 3 (three) hours with shovels and
rakes, again at no cost to him , and had the yard in good shape. Mr. [redacted] has said that he
would not again hire us . I can guarantee that we will not be again working for this man
,because I own the corporation and plan the schedule I will not again accept a phone call
from him. We do some jobs during the year that
can run into $100,000.00 to $150,000.00 and have no complaints because we all abide by
our contracts. Mr. [redacted] does not want to abide by his agreement to rake and seed his yard
as he was told on 2-27-2014 in the presence of one of my employees and our contract. I'm
sorry he feel this way but I have done all I can do to make him happy and am through with
him.
My corporation is the largest and oldest in the area and does not need any
exposure of this kind.
Thank You,
Dornld W Martin

Response:
I have reviewed the response offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
First, placing the dirt and rocks back into the trench that was dug is not landscaping. It is called professionalism and "finishing the job" they were paid for.
Second, MY contract states a new ball valve, backflow preventer and pressure reducing valve. The old PR valve was used and I had paid for a new one.
Third, after many phone calls two men were sent to the house and they were here for an hour. They took some of the large rocks and tossed them in a pile against the front porch. I thought they had broke for lunch, but never returned.
Lastly, bringing a very large backhoe to do the job your smaller one could have done just shows poor judgement and tore up my lawn when it could have been avoided.
