Maritime bus in theory is a good bus company. They advertise comfortable seats, wifi, many people talk about the outlets and usb ports onboard. But what they don’t tell you is that the drivers are almost always rude. Busses never leave on time (I once arrived 3 hours late to my destination). They advertise ticket prices and then tack on fees at checkout (3.95 transaction fee and 1.95 gas fee from fredericton to Moncton). They charge a minimum of 10$ if you want to change a ticket time. They charge even more if you want to change the destination even if you’re going to a closer desination than originally planned. The wifi on the bus when it works is slow at best or it doesn’t work entirely. The outlets for charging rarely work. I’ve experienced a bus driver actually yelling at a customer when they asked about the outlets not working. The driver said “if you’re going to go on a long trip we’re not responsible for you to charge your phone”. But the woman was on a 12 plus hour trip from Montreal to Halifax, of course her phone would die. The seats are generally uncomfortable. Especially the shuttle seats.
I have genuinely tried to adapt to maritime bus’ conditions because it’s pretty much the only option to travel if you don’t own a car in the maritimes. But after months of regularly taking their busses I’ve realized its not just one bad trip, the company is just atrocious.
