Mario Laflamme Contracting & Renovation

First of all, we have dealt with many contractors during the almost 20 years of owning our own home and rental properties. We pay our bills on time each and every time. We had never had an issue until we met Mario.

I also do not usually post negative reviews but thought that I should warn the public about this particular contractor.

Issues are the following:
- Many surprise charges after the job was finished. While in the beginning of the project, additional charges were originally communicated prior to the work being completed, the communication slowed as he became busier with more projects.
- After we received the final invoice, the additional cost came to about an additional 20% of the original contract price. When we explained to Mario that we were not paying for work that were from his lack of communication with his contractors, from work that was never completed and from work that we did not approve, he decided that placing a lien on our home and then taking us to small claims court was his solution.
- Numerous months late with project completion
- Mistakes with invoice calculation
- Did not communicate with contractor about new plan on closet that was Mario’s own idea, then charged us on final invoice for the changes
- Did not install a telepost that was requested in the beginning of the project. He made that decision on our behalf stating that he wanted to save us $400 at the end while charging us an additional 17,000 that was not approved prior.
- Double charging us for painting and for painting that did not occur

I could actually write a novel about what went wrong with this project but I’ll leave that for the legal system.
