Review: This is the 3rd time that I have received a collections letter regarding money owed to Maimonides. In 2 of the 3 situations they have failed to send me a bill from their billing department first. In the 3 situation, the collections letter arrived approximately 2 weeks after receiving a bill from them. Each time I call they apologize and state that a "computer" generates these bills. Yet they fail to fix this "programming". I am officially sick of this and want an apology from their billing department in writing. Thank youDesired Settlement: An apology in writing sent to: [redacted]

Response:
Dear [redacted]:
I am in receipt of your earlier concerns regarding the care you received as a patient at Maimonides Medical Center. I do hope this letter finds you doing well.
I have shared your concerns with the leadership of the Patient Accounts Department and asked that they conduct the investigation they deemed necessary in order for me to respond to your concerns appropriately.
[redacted], Manager of Patient Accounts states that she spoke with you on August [redacted] and explained that your bill went to collection because it was returned as bad mail, which was hard to explain as we have your correct address on file. When you asked why we could not call you if we saw that your bill remain unpaid, [redacted] explained that our patient volumes preclude us from calling patients regarding outstanding balances. You were assured at that time that your credit would not be adversely affected by the collection agency and that she would contact them to send you a letter to this effect. Sat that time you were given [redacted]'s direct extension to call with any further questions.
Please accept our sincere apologies for any miscommunication that may have occurred and thank you for taking the time and letting us know of your concerns. It is through interested individuals, such as yourself, that we can improve our services and the way in which it is delivered.
I hope I have addressed your concerns in a manner you will find acceptable. If not, please know you may pursue this matter further with either the New York State Department of Health or with The Joint Commission. You may contact the New York State Department of Health via email at [redacted], or by writing to the Centralized Hospital Intake Program, Bureau of Hospital and Primary Care Services, [redacted]. Complaints to the state may also be called in to ###-###-####. Alternatively, you may refer this matter for investigation to The Joint Commission. They can be reached by calling ###-###-####, or by writing to the Office of Quality Monitoring, The Joint Commission, [redacted].
