On July 17, 2017, I hired *** (Maid in Windsor, to seal my cement around my pool. he quoted $100.00. *** said he charged $40.00 per hour. On 7/17 he arrived with a young unexpired girl to do this job. I supplied all seal & rollers, she did all the work, they also placed my diving board on its base he put in 2 screws. If *** was here a total of 1 1/2 hrs showing her how to do the job I am surprised.
***. He sent me a bill for $641.84 for $14.20 hours.
I would be willing to pay him $150.00
Hello
Task was to seal pool side patio with concrete seal. Patio was stamped concrete in a patchwork stone pattern with what appeared to be mortar joints in the stamped concrete pattern. It involved using a paint roller and rolling on the sealant, then taking a paint brush and hand brushing the sealant into the mortar joint lines.
It also involved hand brushing the sealant stonework around the planters, walls, pool cover, and attachments. This had done to with great care as to not get the sealant on any of the pool cover, planters, or walls.
It was tedious long hard work, in the summer sun, with *** completing the majority of the work bent over at her waste to hand paint brush the mortar joint lines.
The work was completed over two-day period, July 17 and July 18th
I have verified the hours invoiced and have confirmed that they are accurate.
*** (employee) worked July 17 10:30 am to 5:20 pm
*** (owner) worked July 17 2:45 pm to 5:20 pm
*** (employee returned July 18th to complete the work. 8:43a.m. to 1:30pm
Combined total hours worked are accurate to what was invoiced 14.2-man hours.
Our General labour rate is $40/hr plus HST. Invoicing is accurate.
Confusion around previous years history of this same task being completed and this year's task assignment may have contributed to an unrealistic expectation of time to complete task. Timing to complete this year was further compounded by the duration between this years work and the last time that the patio/pool deck had been sealed.
It had been a couple of years since the last time that the Stamped concrete pool deck had been sealed.
Completing the work this year involved a lot of detail work and care as described above.
Customer expectation of paying $150 is unrealistic do to the work - time involved.
I am however willing to reduce this invoice by 50% to show good faith around the possible confusion that might have occurred.
