Review: I requested a dishwasher repair. The technician arrived and he did not have the part in stock and he had to order it. I was required to pay a $97.76 deposit for the needed parts. The parts were not delivered as promised and I decided to cancel the order. I requested my deposit be refunded. Mahler appliances refused and I was told that was a "service charge" standard in the industry. At no time was I advised of a "service charge". When he arrived at my home all the technician did was write down the model number to order the parts. The dishwasher was removed from under the counter by the consumer. In reality he received $97.76 to write down a model number to order the part. On my receipt $97.76 is listed as a deposit and not a service chargeDesired Settlement: I would like to receive a full refund as no service was preformed. No diagnosis, no labor and no parts received by me

Response:
[redacted] called and scheduled an appointment to have his dishwasher looked at by a technician. My technician gave him an estimate of $225+tax, and collected the minimum service call of $90+ tax, which was to be used as a deposit towards the repair the client agreed to. [redacted] called a day or two later and explained he decided to get a new dishwasher and wanted his money back. I explained to him that a minimum service call was a standard in the industry just like an electrician or a plumber. Then he sent a letter explaining he checked the cost of the part and how to do the repair. While [redacted] may have only seen the technician for five minutes, he didn't see that our educated, trained technician drove to his home from where? [redacted]? researched and ordered his part, arrived in a stocked, insured, registered, inspected and maintained truck, from a company with liability insurance, advertising and office e quipment and secretarial and office expenses. We do not simply drive around diagnosing appliances for free for handy people.
I sent a refund to [redacted], whom I will not do business with again, in hopes to discontinue the hassle and aggravation, not because I agree with his claim. I do hope if he chooses to call another company in the future, he has become more knowledgeable about what goes on besides the five minutes he sees. It seems more likely that [redacted] wanted to use our technicians expertise and time and not have to pay for it. Why call us if he knew what was wrong in the first place?
