purpose. We always, as a policy, and for 17 years, read this statement to every guest that makes a reservation for six or more guests. Additionally, we make confirmation calls 48 hours ahead of EVERY reservation, regardless of size to confirm whether or not the guests will be joining us. We left messages for this guest and unfortunately did not hear back. As this policy was in effect when the reservation was cancelled, we did charge the card on file the cancellation fee. When speaking with the guest on the phone, we even offered to refund the fee as gift cards that did not expire. The guest refused this offer. We then offered, as a courtesy, to cut the fee in half, but the guest was not interested in this offer either. When we both spoke on the phone with her bank as a mediator, the bank did in fact let her know that our policy stands. We sent the evidence of our policy to the bank and they upheld the decision. As I mentioned when on the phone with the bank and the guest, I'd still love the opportunity to send over the refund as I originally said I would.
