Review: On February 16, 2015 I was quoted $412.60 patient liability for a dental procedure ($342.60 onlay, $70 buildup). Prior to the work being completed, the dental office submitted the authorization to my insurance company who in return came back with the amount quoted. Upon completion of the procedure, it was determined the buildup was not needed, plus the office offered me a $50 first time patient discount, so the total cost should have been $292.60 ($342.60-$50.00). I was charged, and paid $362.60 on February 24, 2015 - the day I had the procedure. Shortly thereafter I began receiving a bill for upwards of $450.00 (increasing each month due to finance charges). When I called the office, the receptionist I spoke to was very kind and helpful. She took a message down for me and said the office manager would return my call the next day, which she did. Unfortunately, I had quite the opposite experience with the manager. She explained to me the reason for the charge was because when the office initially submitted my authorization (pre-procedure), they didn't list the appropriate service so my insurance came back as covering 80% when in fact they will only cover 50% of the procedure that was actually performed. I asked her if it was an error on the office's part, why was I being charged the difference since I have an estimate that clearly states my responsibility, and my insurance was contacted prior to the work being completed? I told her that if the quote would have come back accurate, I would have had my dental work done elsewhere. At this point, her tone changed and she was highly combative. She was not focused on helping either of us resolve the issue - I asked a few times who I could speak with aside from her who could help solve the problem. She said she was it and that it was my fault for agreeing to the service in the first place. I have never been treated so poorly by a person, let alone an individual representing a business in a leadership capacity.Desired Settlement: I would like the remaining balance due on my account removed and any negative impact on my credit report reversed. Additionally, in my own opinion it would be to the business' advantage to enroll the office manager in a customer relations/conflict resolution training course so this doesn't continue to occur with future patients. It's quite unfortunate the business/customer service side is such a mess - the service level from the dentist himself as well as the knowledge and expertise he provided was second to none.
