Wednesday, January 17, Complaint ID : ***To *** ***,Thank you for notifying Lucky U Motel of the complaint issued against usI will provide explanation and context as to why and how Mr*** and company were
asked to leave.To clarify, Mr*** and company were not “tenants” but “transient guests” as they did not occupy the room for more than daysGuests are required to sign a Terms and Conditions of Renting Form at check-inAs shown in the included form, *** *** rented the room in her name and signed the form on December 27th, Grounds for eviction are clearly written and stated prior to guests receiving their room keyWe are within our rights to evict guests without advance notice if they fail to comply with Lucky U Motel policy as listed and described belowThe day after check-in, December 28th,, 2017, Mr***’s group delayed payment (strictly due at 10:am) while refusing to vacate the room until roughly 4:pmThey continued to delay further payments until 2-3:pm each dayThey brought a van with expired tagsPolice inquired about their car and warned us that we were at risk of receiving a ticket/fine for having a car with expired tags on the propertyWe also require that guests 18+ years provide valid ID at check-inMultiple persons in their group evaded management and refused to present IDMultiple strangers were also staying in their room, violating our no unauthorized guests ruleThere was also noted damage in the room, including a broken landline phone (allegedly resulting from a fight) which is also listed as grounds for eviction.On January 4th, 2018, management did not accept payment and attempted to request that Mr***/his group leave without escalating the situation but failedInstead of telling the guests they were being evicted due to policy violations, management said that a reservation had taken place insteadLater that day, the owner personally spoke to one of the group and listed the actual reasons why they were asked to leave and apologized for how the situation was handledThe guest agreed that our decision was fair and the room was vacated.When members of the same group checked in again January 5th, 2018, we agreed to rent to them while emphasizing that any disruptive behavior or non-compliance with policy will result in immediate evictionJanuary 11th, police were called to their room due to a domestic violence situationJanuary 12th, the night manager heard screaming and loud thumps at roughly am from their roomManagement went upstairs and witnessed an unauthorized guest having an acute psychotic episodeOther guests complained about the noise and expressed fear in staying at our motel as a resultThe group was permanently evicted and banned January 12th, 2018.While we appreciate repeat guests, we will not offer Mr*** a room for no charge because based on state law, a motel keeper may evict a guest for failure to abide by the rules of occupancy and no advance notice is requiredWe sincerely apologize for how the situation was initially handled but we are justified in having asked Mr*** and his group to vacate their room.Thank you for your timePlease feel free to contact me for any further questions or concerns.Sarah C***General [email protected] : (303) -
