This complaint has completely caught me off guard. The customer was extremely happy with our services when he left my business and I never heard anything different from him. I feel like this situation could have been handled in a much more professional manner. If a customer feels
like they have a plausible complaint, it would make sense to me for the customer to contact the business first with any issues or concerns, and this was not done. This customer originally contacted me because he could not find a shop that could repair his vehicle to the point where it would pass an emissions inspection. When his vehicle arrived at my shop it had multiple codes that set a check engine light. One of those codes was a crank sensor code. This issue could have caused the other codes. We were told to do whatever we had to do to get his emissions inspection passed. The services we charged him for was to replace the crank sensor and perform a drive cycle procedure to get the readiness monitors set for the inspection. The services that we performed that we did not charge for was repairing wires that went to the crank sensor. This was done before the sensor was replaced because the wires were torn apart ad we had hopes that we would find that the sensor was good after the wires were repaired. It was clear that the sensor needed to be replaced after the wires were replaced to the point of getting good connection. The wires took about hour to repair, we also spent hours in diagnostic time on it that we did not charge for. Our labor rate is $80/hr so if we would have been paid for our time spent this alone would have costs $240. The total bill was $191.69. We did not charge for the rest of the time because we were trying to help him out and I told him we would fill in free time with this work. He was referred by a friend and we were simply just trying to help him out. All of this being said, we charged him less than half of what we could have rightfully charged him. When the customer picked his vehicle up, he was told that it was very likely that the check engin light would come back on because it felt like the vehicle had a misfire. He was very happy with our service and out price and said that all he cared about was getting truck legal. I value my customers opinions, vehicles and well being and appreciate it if they can come to me in person or call me with any plausible complaints, but in this matter I have to respectfully decline the customer's request for a refund
