Review: I left my car with this garage for an estimate for repair/ replace of engine. After two weeks and no word from garage I contacted them and discovered they did not provide an estimate to insurance company as requested, but simply stored my car. I was then charged 530.00 for storage of my car. When I challenged this charge, and their lack of providing an estimate, I was told they would not release the car without payment of 530.00 which had already been charged to my credit card.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of my 530.00.

Response:
In response to complaint (ID #[redacted]) please note the following:
The vehicle was brought in to the shop on June **, 2013 after driving thru flood water and the engine stalled. After removing all the spark plugs and attempting to manually turn the engine it was discovered that the engine is locked and will need to be replaced, the customer was informed and stated that she will contact the insurance.
An insurance adjustor called the shop and spoke with [redacted] (the manager), he was informed of the condition of the engine and stated that someone will contact the shop with information. On June **, the insurance company sent a tow truck to pick up the vehicle without prior notice.
The charges on the invoice reflect 1 hour of diagnostics and 15 days of storage at $25.00 per day.
We feel that the insurance company failed to communicate with the shop and therefore the customer had the impression that we did not provide an estimate.
Sincerely,

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:
I asked the mechanic before I had it first towed do you repair and or replace engine and they said "yes" bring it in. I left the insurance papers with the mechanic and a few days no reply, I had to call him to tell him again to fax the papers to the insurance company. He knew about this all along. The mechanic lied to me, The insurance adjusted stated that the engine needs to be repair or replace.
After a week gone by no reply from the first mechanic and it was drags on. I indicated to the first mechanic that I will have my car tow to another mechanic who indicated he can replace engine which he did in a matter of a few days. The first mechanic knew I was going to have my car tow to another mechanic down the road and had to pay the fee (over the phone) before my car could be released. The insurance adjuster indicated that first mechanic is a lier and a thief.
The total bill was 513.00 for doing nothing.
