Our office has been made aware of a complaint again our business regarding Ms*** *** and some billing issuesWe are surprised to receive such a complaint, as we felt that the patient was made fully aware of all charges incurredThe patient had made an appointment over the phone and was
quoted an estimate for services based off of a comprehensive examUpon her arrival to the appointment, it was determined by the doctor that she was a suspect for a medical conditionThe standard of care is to photo document with photosThe patient was educated on the purpose of that this portion of the exam would be billed to her medical insuranceUpon checking out at the end of her appointment it was reiterated that the photos would be billed to her insurance (as this is a medically based procedure)The insurance company applied the charges to her medical deductible because she had not met it yetTherefore they were deemed as her responsibility.The patient called to inquire about the chargesWhen the patient and I spoke regarding the concern, I let her know the reason for the photos and reminded her of the conversation that she and the doctor had regarding their purpose and that they would be billed to her medical insuranceThe patient had not paid the $that was incurred for her photos, she did however, pay her exam and materials purchase in fullIn the interest of salvaging the relationship, we are willing to excuse the balance of $but we strongly recommend that *** be seen for follow up regarding her suspected condition, whether it is at our office or anotherWe've attempted to contact *** to speak to her regarding this, but she has not returned the phone calls and we have not been successful in resolving the issue.Sincerely,Lindsey B***Billing Manager
