I purchased a remanufactured motor from LKQ on 5/6/2015 for my 1999 Mazda Miata (see attached invoice). To insure proper warranty and operability I purchased the additional “no fault” warranty and was told that if for ANY reason within the first year, there was a problem, I would be completely covered. The motor was shipped to Street Tech Auto Care in Orangevale CA (as referred by AAA) and installed. The motor lasted 4 days/151 miles and stopped running. The vehicle was again towed to Street Tech, who evaluated situation and sent diagnostic proof to LKQ that they had provided an improperly built motor that failed. LKQ accepted the diagnostic proof and admitted they had sold a faulty product. I was contacted by a claim rep at ###-###-#### that informed me that although they had no motor in stock, they would build one, ship it and I would again be without a vehicle for an extended period. They further informed me that I would be responsible for up-front costs of having another motor installed ($2300.00) and they would partially reimburse me at a later date.
I do not believe their faulty product should be my responsibility to re-install, further I have been without vehicle for several weeks and now that it is clearly by fault of their product (which was covered by their warranty as well as my additionally purchase warranty) that I should have to find ways to work each day while they remedy the problem. A rental vehicle should be provided.
