I answered an online ad about attending a legal "mock trial" focus group occurring in Pontiac, MI May 29. Received a call from them, stating the positions were full, but said I would be "first alternate" which is guaranteed $45, however "they never have everyone show up" so I should make it to the actual group, which pays $125. I went to the location Thursday, and eventually three people were selected from the alternates, but not me. I asked the man, why I was not chosen when I was told I was first alternate, and he said, "That's not on my sheet." I left with only $45 instead of the $125 I should have received for the group, after the day was over. I called the person three times, each occurrence leaving a voicemail briefly explaining what happened and to call me back. She never did. I emailed the company, and never received a response. Finally, I called them June 18. I explained my situation to the man, and he said in so many words in a rude tone he would not help me. After explaining further, he said he would forward this to the assistant manager, and he/she would call me. Looking at the website, there is no "assistant manager" listed, unless he misspoke and meant Vice President. As of June 26, I have not heard back from the business.
