wall, and additional cleaning beyond the norm that had to be done in the cottage itself. We do have photographs of the damage, and these were sent to the complainant. She disputes that these are "real". The complainant's husband called to dispute the charges on 9/25. At that time, he was told that if they did not pay for the damage, the amount would be taken out of the wedding host's damage deposit. The wedding contract that the host reads and signs when they book our venue indicates that the host will pay for any damages caused by vendors or guests that are not taken care of by the responsible party. We did nothing unethical in letting the complainant know that this would be the procedure. In over 15 years in business and having hosted over 150 weddings, this is only the third time we have charged for damages to the property. It is the first time a guest has denied the damage and accused me and my staff of, apparently, making it all up. The complainant sent an email that was received on 9/26 threatening to take out ads in local papers and write bad reviews of the property online if we did not refund the money we charged for the damages. I am prepared to defend my actions and those of my staff, and will not be bullied by a guest who is unhappy that they have to pay for damages to the accommodation they stayed in.
