This is not the first time I have experienced such an issue with your laboratory. Additionally, the customer service seems lacking, as there is no accessible option to file a complaint on your website.
Girl at the front desk was great in providing service. The older gal (60ish, out of country), the clinician, whom undertakes the sample collection seems to absolutely hate her job. Sourpuss, smart-a$$ answers to basic questions, dictates instructions, no sympathy to client concerns. Very poor employee and company rep. She should not be working in the role. Period.
First walking in, the place is dingy and dirty. Waiting room cramped. Being directed to a stall, the seat I was supposed to sit in to have blood drawn was coated with something ... I can only assume dried blood and other detritus.
I also had to give a urine sample, so was directed to a disgusting little washroom. The little shelf they have to put the sample while I prepared to give the sample was hanging by a thread - screws and anchors pulled out from the wall. Upon finishing, of course wanted to wash my hands, but was met with only icy-cold water and no soap! This is on the back-end of a pandemic and they can't provide patients with hot water to wash up with?
This disgusting place needs to be shut down! Lifelabs is a private, highly profitable company. They need to do better and the Ministry of Health needs to get involved in inspecting these places. Now at home, I really feel like I need to take a shower. GROSS!
I write this email for complaint with great disappointment, helpless and regret, which I am very clear that may be no follow-up. But I have to write the email to you, and so sorry to bother all of you. I don’t know who will be charge the complaint .
I am confused about why I encounter discrimination when I went for a blood test.
March 27, 2023 (today). I had an appointment to have blood test at 9:10 am in 208-3001 Gordon Ave Coquitlam BC. I was in a line and only five people were in front me when I arrived.
When it was my turn, the lady in front of me asked me to register first, she looked like waiting for something. But the employee Cathy who raised her head not like normal and was very rude and impatient asked if I was in line? I answered “ Yes” . she asked again “ where are you in the line?
There was only one line in the office. I was so confused why she did question me?
I told her about the lady in front of me asked me to register first. Then Cathy looked skeptical and disdainful asked:” who? ” I showed to her. Then she asked me again with a very very rude and discriminatory tone and expression did I made an appointment. I showed the appointment email to her again. She said very impatiently “I don’t care who you are!” ? ( BTW, the office accepted appointment and walk in as well)
I was so confused what’s wrong with me? Why did she so rude to me? Why did she question me with discriminatory attitudes?
I know it would be useless to complain because they has Union protect (Life Labs) employees’ rights, but who protect patient ‘s right and safy?
I have to have blood test in regular requestions from my doctors. I almost very time get a vein ruptured and had a big bruise after blood test from Life Lab. I will spend three weeks and / or more time to recover it. It was very painful as well. I feel it is very terrible and dangerous, I am wondering how these employees had training? sometimes I met one or two employees who did very good, but not sure their schedule.
I need Cathy to apologize in writing and I also want to know how you( Life Lab) will handle such matters in future?
please don't tell me you will follow up...
I am initiating a chargeback to my credit card. I have no other options.
1) Apparently you no longer perform the urea breath test (which was covered by OHIP)
2. I acquired a requisition from my doctor for the stool antigen.
3. I went online to see if there were and special requirements for this test. Documentation said I need to book and pay for it on line.
4. I paid on line and printed out the requisition, took it to the lab along with the signed OHIP requisition from my doctor.
5. This was refused. I had to make another doctor appointment so he could sign the printed out Lifelabs requisition.
6. Visited my doctor.
7. Procured my sample and took it to the Southdown Clinic in Mississauga. Asked for a receipt to submit to my insurance (All I got from Lifelabs was a receipt that said I paid $180 - did not identify the service location or what test was done.) I was informed that since I paid online they could not issue me a receipt. (they would, if I paid ANOTHER $180 right there)
8) Submitted the receipt I had to my insurance and of course, they rejected it.
9) I called your customer service and after being on hold for 45 minutes I got this lovely lady who understood exactly what the issue was and transferred me to Accounts Receivable, only to be required to leave a message.
10. An hour and half later I called directly to Accounts receivable, the person could not locate the invoice (my Invoice number begins with SC2 - he said all their invoices begin with 8 or 9. He transferred me back to Customer Service, even though I told him Customer Service had transferred me to AC
11. Fortunately there was not a 45 minute wait this time and the gentleman escalated the issue and said I should hear from them shortly.
12. I'm waiting.
1) first I was received by 2 female staff at the front desk, who acted like they just worked a 12 hour night shift and it was 0900 in the morning, courtesy, friendliness and customer service not in their repretoire (I am an RN who has worked in health care x 30 years).
2) there is no way to phone directly into Memorial Avenue office to confirm blood work requisition is in their system, I had to phone the call centre line and unbelieveably waited "on hold over 30 minutes"! x 2 times! to be told no the requisition was not there (in the end it was a problem with physician office and faxing).
3) I was ushered into a cubicle for blood work and there was a man's coat in cubicle. I'm thinking if they had sanitizied the cubicle before my arrival, they would have noticed the coat (he was in the washroom). I chose to sanitize the next cubicle I was ushered into myself.
4) I question the hours that Lifelabs are open 8-4pm. Perhaps they could stagger their hours 7-5pm/8-6pm to help accommodate those of us who work during those hours.
5) recommendation to increase their staff/client ratio to help facilitate their hours of work, decrease the 3 week wait time to access an appointment for blood withdrawal, improve their moral, and encourage staff at Memorial Avenue Lifelabs to participate in a professional communication/courtesy/customer care course
LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services Does It Right The First Time Around!
Back on Tuesday, March 24th 2020, I needed to get some blood tests done along with an EKG and Urine sample which also included Vitamin D and PSA and the Experience that I had received at the 4430 Bathurst Street Suite #211, North York, Ontario Canada M3H 3S3
(8,7,7,) 8,4,9,-3,6,3,7, location was Amazingly, Phenomenal!
I was well received by both Liza and Remita and both of them really know their craft.
When it comes to blood work, Liza is Amazing! During my visit, she asked ME to turn my head the other way and don't look and Honestly, I did Not Feel a Thing! I thought she was using a Butterfly Needle when she wasn't!
She really is a LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services Magician when it comes to Taking Blood!
In Addition: Remita is also really good at administering the EKG tests as well which went really fast!
I was Super Amazed at the Services that I had received and in the speed that the tests took ***
I want to personally Thank Liza and Remita for the Awesome Blood, EKG and Urine services that were received earlier today!
Sincerely yours,
Howard Paul S.
