My husband and I purchased two dogs from this breeder. They both have detrimental health issues. One has a congenital disorder and the other has an autoimmune disorder. This breeder has a genetic/health guarantee for the first two years of the puppy's life. When contacted with our first dog's issue Congenital Dyserythropoiesis, which he was born with. Also, the second dog has Intestinal Lymphactasia secondary to Irritable Bowel Disease. These two issues significantly lower the life expectancy of the dogs we purchased and we have accrued thousands of dollars of vet bills in the course of treating their issues. Irresponsible breeding and the absence of genetic testing is to blame for these issues and the emotional/ financial strain we have gone through to treat our pets. If any information is necessary we have all documents of diagnosis and multiple documents with lab results that support our claim.
On 12/18/2016 the said party acquired a puppy from me, they received and signed my 2 year genetic health guarantee and my contract on the puppy, they did notify me of the Congential Dyserythropoiesis of that dog on 6/03/17, I was willing to honor my guarantee as that is a genetic defect, which stated in the contract would give them a replacement puppy, as soon as there was one available as well as when they were ready for another dog, since they had emailed a vet letter, they would have just needed to remind me about the guarantee. On 3/18/2018 acquired another puppy, they did not bring up the past issues of their current dog nor the guarantee they signed, or I would have just honored the guarantee and given them the new pup. I have also not been notified of the 2 year old dogs issue Intestinal Lymphactasia secondary to IBD, prior to this letter nor have they provided any vet records/test to prove that is a genetic defect. Although sometimes IL can be hereditary, it is also an acquired disease (not genetic) caused by a few other issues and IBD ( which their dog has) is one of them on the list. I would be willing to honor the first contract and to give the the purchase price of the first dog back, but the 2 year genetic health/puppy contract states I am not liable for any vet bills acquired. If in the future they can provide me with proper paperwork from a licensed Vet and tests stating that the new 2 year old dogs IL is in fact a genetic defect and not acquired from IBD, I would be willing to give the purchase price of that dog back as well. I cannot genetically test my dogs for every known genetic disease out there nor can genetic tests guarantee a dog or its offspring will never get sick.
