I have included the proposal submitted, and agreed to, by the clientThere is no mention of "tempered" or "safety" glass
The client was not charged for any of the 4 panes of glass that were installed in her bathroom. Also, we had no agreement, discussion or understanding that the panes would be tempered glass.
In regards to the proposal submitted by Mr. L[redacted], I'd like to address his misinterpretation of the phrase "replace glass". Verbal communication that transpired between us, prior to any work being done, he stated 'tempered' glass would be the produced used to replace my current windows. Being a highly rated business/contractor I did not feel it was my responsibility, as the c[redacted]omer, to enforce quality control of residential building code for safety glass surrounding bathroom tubs.It is my understanding that any reputable contractor, who knows code for bathroom windows above tubs, would use "tempered glass".Therefore, from his reputable standing and prior verbal communication I was lead to believe that my windows would be replaced with tempered glass. Thus when the proposal came and I saw 'replace glass' I naturally assumIed it was tempered glass. So imagine my surprise when I started inquiring to Mr. L[redacted] whether tempered glass was used he finally reported back that he did not owe me anything.. Refer to email below. Bottom line I would like to have my windows replaced with tempered glass by another company and have Mr. L[redacted] reimburse the estimated $400.00 for new tempered glass. Mr. L[redacted] email dated 7/13/2017:If you recall, as an attempt to make up for your inconcenience due to my issues with ordering the correct size, and then breaking one of the panes while installing and having to reorder it, I did not charge you anything for the windows, tempered or not.I don't owe you anything.Matthew L[redacted]Legacy Home Services###-###-####
We did have a discussion that the code for glass in the bathroom needed to be tempered.
