The firm did work on our side yard. They failed to complete the job. It is now seven months and they won't even answer my emails. If you are thinking of hiring SLC, I urge you to rethink your decision. They ask to be paid before the job was complete and I will never make that mistake again. Shame on you !
I contracted with SLC to do a total backyard makeover. All I can say is WOW!!! *** and *** have nothing over this company. Very professional , on time , on budget (except my wife had to have that rock slide for the pool) and met all expectations.
We met *** and *** at the Nashville home show this year and after meeting with over 25 contractors over a year period, we hired them to do our patio extension, build a retaining wall and stairs and cover with outdoor tile. We COULD NOT have been HAPPIER with our experience from the get go. *** was our contact during most of the process, but *** was always reachable and responsive. *** never once let my call go to voicemail, always answering and always attentive to our questions/concerns/needs/changes. They worked tirelessly when we had a hold up at the manufacturer and went above and beyond to get our needs met. Any small need we had was addressed timely and professionally. We have recommended them to several friends who have also been impressed with them and have hired them for their own projects. We have two more projects lined up with them to do in phases in our yard and we look forward to working with them again.
My experience with this company really couldn't have went any worse, in the end we had to let this company go and hire someone that was actually capable to come and repair over 70% of their work and finish what they still hadn't completed. We paid an agreed upon amount to have them leave the site immediately, so please imagine how bad it had to be for us to do this. This was a $20K project that we contracted on top of our pool installation. The owner is by far not customer oriented and has no issues not being truthful, he has pretty much ran all other contractor from working with him. I had to listen to him tell me one thing and do another the entire project. This is why he ask for 50% upfront so you are upside down on the project and he can control what he does.
Throughout the project our pool installer had to come back behind this company and fix their mistakes which he is no longer doing business with them and even stopped projects that were already under contract with Southern Luxury. Not only was their work subpar but also they caused damage over $2,000 to the electrical, irrigation, and fencing that had been redone for the pool installation. None of the damage did they ever repair as they had no problem leaving their issues for someone else to clean up and pay for. The promised 6 week project had been going on for 8 months, even though the weather wasn't the greatest they were never on time with anything as well leaving material for over a month without being touched to be installed. Even material we were told already on order (which was a lie) and ready for delivery we had to wait for over a month. I called the supplier and the order was never placed like we were told. This company when we first started had a good amount of staff but after our contract was signed and our project started they only had the owner and a couple of unexperienced installers (one guy told me he only works in the summer for them). The owner never bothered to come to the site and check the work being done and when I called him to tell him what was wrong he only wanted to blame use with some poor excuse even though we had a drawing to go by.
They quoted a drawing that we had created by a professional designer and we never altered any item of that drawing always sticking to the original design, but the owner was always trying to charge us for changes that were listed on the contract and original drawing. Evidentially this company is not capable of reading a drawing as we had many walk through and meeting and discussed all points. He first quoted a 36" wall, as he supposedly came to our house and surveyed our property, but after signing the contract he told us he could only do a wall 2 feet and could not do the bench we had paid for. Another example, the pavers were ordered after he measured for the final layout (Which square footage was the same as drawing), then we had to pay for additional pavers after they installed because of their lack of experience and scrap. Even after that reorder he came to us again saying he was out of pavers and needed us to pay for more, and if we didn't he couldn't fix some of bad installation they had created. Our pavers were not level, had low spots that would retain water, large gaps, and overall layout was done incorrectly.
We had them install steps per our drawing that were supposed to be the same on both side of our pool, they installed one set 2 ft narrower. After two weeks the pavers for the step started coming off, even causing our 4 year old son to fall and cut his chin but the owner refused to come and address the issue leaving this unsafe work area that we couldn't let our kids go around. The steps had crooked pavers set into place, and our new contractor even pointed out that one of the pavers used was a completely different brand of paver. The stone work was horrible having gaps over 1 inch with grey mortar on top of the stones (even though they were supposed to use buff). Our new contractor is having to completely remove all of their work and start over as not being level, square, and bad installation that he was not able to rework. The new installer is removing the rocks from our columns as the stone was so bad he couldn't believe a company would do this work. I made pictures of all items and list and gave it to the owner, even showing the work he had done beside the pictures he showed of his other work.
Do not believe what you see, and please do your homework before hiring this company. I found out later this is not the only time. Also the positive reviews that are on here are from people that are affiliated with the company as evidentially they can't read the Revdex.com agreement for reviews.
I will hope that you find some other company to use as I am only writing this to make sure people do not have the same issue I had.
This company installed a total outdoor living area i.e. patio, pavilion w/fireplace and kitchen and I could not be more pleased. Their work is impeccable and recommend them to anyone. Very honest and high level of integrity.
This is the most amazing company ever. *** the owner is immaculate about his work. He takes the customers project and makes their dream their reality while having an Impeccable work ethic. Their work is the best in Chattanooga. I will definitely refer this company to everyone I know.
Thank You so much!
