I have been waiting six weeks for my 80 dollar refund from Lawton Street Community Center for the Akron Recreation Basketball program. I returned all equipment and removed my son from the program. I spoke to Ms. B about how dissatisfied I was with the program and that I wanted a refund but she was unable to give me a refund so she sent me to Balch Street Community Center to speak with a guy name Jeff and for the last 4 weeks he has been telling me my refund is on the way but I still haven’t received it. Lawton Community Center says they are unable to give me a cash refund and that was the original form of payment. My son hasn’t played one game since the season started. I don’t think they are trying to give me my money back.
This email is regards to *** Revdex.com complaint against the City of Akron Recreation and Parks division. I received notice on or around January 17th that *** was not satisfied with our youth basketball league. I looked into the complaint and while it is not our policy to refund monies after uniforms have been ordered and teams are established I agreed to still refund *** the full $80 he paid for his child to participate. At that time *** was told a refund could take up to 6 weeks due to city procedures but we hoped to have it much sooner. As you can see by the attached copy of the refund check sent to ***, it was printed on February 13th and then mailed the same day to the address provided.
When I spoke to *** on approximately February 11th or 12th I let him know the check would be mailed that week. At that time he stated to me that a check was unacceptable and he wanted cash (like he paid) because he would have to pay somebody to cash the $80 check and therefore he would not be receiving his entire refund. I let him know that unfortunately we could not refund him anymore than he had paid due to his banking situation. He at that point got upset, told me he was calling the Revdex.com and hung up.
The attached is a copy of the check sent (that is why you see the VOID, it does that when copied). According to our treasury office, as of yesterday it still has not been cashed.
Please let me know if you need further information.
Thank you,
Jeff M
