had filed a bankruptcy petition at the end of 2011, and that she had never received notice of the banruptcy. We discussed the possibility of reopening the bankruptcy case and having the lien recognized.I estimated it would take three (3) hours to investigate the matter. My hourly rate is $340. Ms. [redacted]-[redacted] made a payment of $1,100 for the investigation and incidental costs, such as copies and mailing.I spent approximately four and one-half hours reviewing documents, performing the investigation and researching possible avenues. My research indicated that, because Ms. [redacted]-[redacted] had perfected her lien after the bankruptcy was filed, said lien was void.Moreover, the recording of the lien in March 2012 likely constituted a violation of the automatic stay. In fact, Mr. [redacted] moved for contempt sanctions against Ms. [redacted]-[redacted] and her attorney prior to my being retained.I reviewed the underlying complaint and advised that it likely would not form the basis of a claim to reopen the bankruptcy and enter judgment.
