The practice of charging residents/consumers for costs associated with damages in units upon vacating Laurel Village are done in accordance with the law Unfortunately, this resident/consumer damaged the carpet beyond our ability to have it cleaned and it was necessary to replace it Our residents/consumers are charged a percentage of a five-year life span for carpet replacements The industry standard is seven-years, which would have cost this resident/consumer a larger sum of money The carpet in the unit of concern, was replaced before the resident/consumer took occupancy, in July Therefore, we charged this resident/consumer for four of the five years of the carpet lifeThe cost breakdown is as follows:$1977.00(total carpet replacement cost) / years = $395.40/year$x years = $The resident/consumer had a security deposit of $which was applied to the damage charges, leaving her with a balance due to Laurel Village of $At this point, we have provided our resident/consumer with all necessary documentation of the damages, the previous replacement records, along with an ending account statement This resident/consumer agreed and paid in full the $that was due to Laurel Village

Our residents/consumers are charged a percentage of a five-year life span for carpet replacements. The industry standard is seven-years, which would have cost this resident/consumer a larger sum of money. The carpet in the unit of concern, was replaced before the resident/consumer took occupancy, in July 2015. Therefore, we charged this resident/consumer for four of the five years of the carpet life. The cost breakdown is as follows:$1977.00(total carpet replacement cost) / 5 years = $395.40/year$395.40 x 4 years = $1581.60 The resident/consumer had a security deposit of $303.00 which was applied to the damage charges, leaving her with a balance due to Laurel Village of $1278.60. At this point, we have provided our resident/consumer with all necessary documentation of the damages, the previous replacement records, along with an ending account statement. This resident/consumer agreed and paid in full the $1278.60 that was due to Laurel Village.
