The Customer had the motorcycle towed in for non-functioning lighting (electrical problems) and dead batteryAfter several hours of electrical diagnostic, we determined that his lights were shorting at the switches in the handlebarsThe switch housings were filled with rain water do to the customer leaving the motorcycle outside, uncovered all winter longIt was decided that it was a better idea to completely replace all the handlebar switches and re-wire the handlebarsThis process was done and it resolved the lighting issue that the customer complained aboutDuring this time we had the battery on a chargerWe then started the motorcycleAfter sitting over night, the next morning, the battery was very week and below acceptable voltageI then called the customer and explained what we did and how we came to this conclusion of the battery needed to be replaced At that point, the customer showed signs of concern on the cost of these repairsBeing that Jim had been a customer of the shop so I explained the amount of time and parts cost we had into his motorcycleI then told him that we would make a deal for him so that he could afford the repair Time of electrical diagnostic- hours Time of re-wiring handlebars- hours Time of testing charging system- hours Cost of Handlebar switch kit- $ Cost of battery- $ Sales tax- $ Total- $
Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: My bike still doesnt start and/or runI took my motorcycle to get fixed not just throw money at things I didnt needAs I stated in my complaint, the battery was fineWhy wasnt an electrical test done to determine the problem? I trusted his knowledge.Sincerely, [redacted]
