The contractor represented himself as a masonry specialist. he rang our bell and offered to do some pointing on some damaged brick faces. he offered a price a bit high but I accepted. he subsequently that the brick in the wall extending from the house (which supported the end of the roof) had deteriorated due to water damage and needed to be replaced. I reluctantly accepted and signed a contract.
While I was away from the house taking my wife to the doctor with the contractor's knowledge, the contractor performed excavation around the wall and the foundation of the house. he said it needed attention and offered to do waterproofing for $120, 000 plus or minus. I informed him that that cost was impossible. he dropped the offer to $82,000 if I didn't tell my neighbors, next he dropped the offer to $62,000 on the condition that he could place a yard sign on my lawn for a few days. He removed part of the wall and supported the edge of the roof on both sides of the house with temporary wooded posts. he pressured me during all conversations. I asked him to stop all work while considered his proposal. I subsequently circulated his business card to a neighborhood organization, took photographs of the physical conditions and sent the photos to two engineers who I know for evaluation. I was unable to sleep all night and my blood pressure spiked. I kept a Dr's. Appt. the following morning and received three cell phone call while driving. that I didn't answer. when I parked I saw the the calls came from the number on the contractor's card but with no name and only listing United states. he left no message. I checked with the Revdex.com and found no listing for the contractor. American Self storage is listed at the address given. I received more calls which I elected not to answer. Again, no message was left. I called Revdex.com to check on the company and again was told there was no listing. while I was on the phone one of the contractor's staff rang my bell and asked if everything was ok. I told him NO.He left quickly
