Gentlemen did landscaping and patio work for us. They did not do a professional or complete job with the worst being the plantings. They not only ripped up perfect 15 year ornamental grass, they replaced it with a much lower quality, sparce product. The original ornamental grass was beautiful and not supposed to be touched. They also put in three bushes that started to die one by one within a few weeks. We have an underground drip (watering) system that waters every plant/tree/ bush in all our beds, including the three planted by Erie. The drip runs every other day and when we noticed the first plant dying we added a sprinkler hose to them on the off days. I have contacted them repeatedly asking for them to be replaced (at this point all three are dead). The business phone is left off the hook and the business owner's voicemail on his cell phone is full. The only way to contact them to leave a message is by email. Over a 5 week period I sent three emails. My third email was finally responded to and Mike (the owner) said he would only cover the labor and I had to buy the bushes. However, the warranty specifically states labor and material is guaranteed. When I replied to him with that response, he did not reply back (that was approximately 10-14 days ago) and the bushes have still not been replaced.
Mrs. is completely mischaracterizing the issue. First of all the work we did was done to the utmost level of professionalism and all work requested was completed in as timely manner as possible. The issue of the ornamental grass plants is flat out wrong. The plants were not removed as she claims. The dead leaves were cut down as is standard practice and allowed to regrow as is normal considering that they are perennial plants. She even went so far as to accuse us of allowing grass to grow around the base of her ornamental plants. It was explained to her that the plants were not removed and the grass that was growing was the ornamental plant itself. She would not hear of it and insisted that we replace the plants, which we did to try to mitigate the situation, at our own costs. She then calls to complain about new plants dying, which were completely healthy when planted. I stopped by to look and the root balls at the time were very dry. I explained to her that it was a watering issue and not something that we have control over. She countered by stating that they have an irrigation system and that they were being watered. This was not evident when I was there. In any event. I explained that our warranty covers the replacement cost of the material but she would be responsible for the labor. Also, our warranty states that improper care of the plant material is not covered by the warranty but we were willing to replace them anyways. She refused to accept our offer. There is an ongoing bias from her towards our company. My employees have commented on it and I have witnessed it firsthand myself. However, that being said, we still are willing to replace the plants provided she covered the labor to do so. Considering we already replace three plants at our cost for which we were not liable, I believe that we have gone over and above to appease her.
Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID. This business owner is being extremely untruthful and is unethical, at best.
His response to me when I showed him the 15 year old plants his staff ripped out was "I don't know why they did that." He had no idea and was equally surprised.
As far as the 3 diseased plants he planted, his email to me on 8/22/19 with respect to the warranty states, "....However, our warranty covers LABOR to replace the
plant. Homeowner is responsible for the plant itself." Now, because I got the Revdex.com involved, he is admitting the plants are covered. These three bushes were
watered consistently with our drip system and with an additional sprinkling in between (with a sprinkler). Had he responded to my email when only one plant was
dying, maybe we could have saved it and the other two. But, he leaves his phone off the hook and his other phone with a full voicemail box and only replied
FIVE weeks after my initial email at which time we did in fact stop providing the extra sprinkling because the all three were dead.
I urge anyone who is considering Erie Landscaping for landscaping or patio work to look elsewhere.
We are fine with the resolution to replace the plants as asked initially. Please drop them off this month of September and we will have our new (professional)
landscaper plant them.
