Review: In October of 2011 I purchased a "real" Chanel Red Jumbo caviar bag for $2800.00 plus tax and it turns out the bag is fake and they have refused to authenticate the bag, provide me with an authentication nor can they cannot contact the seller to provide authentication and have refused or give me a refund. They offered me $1050.00 to buy back the "fake" bag and that is "the best they can do". The saddest part is that I cannot re-sell the bag and I am now stuck with a $3,000.00 paper weight that is worthless and my heart is broken and I am so mad and feel so stupid for trusting their reputation. I cannot believe that they will not stand by their merchandise. BEWARE of this seller, don't buy anything from them as they do not back up what they sell, do not provide authentication nor will they stand by the merchandise they re-sell. Shame on them and shame on me.Desired Settlement: Either 100% authentication of this bag or a full refund

Response:
I received this complaint letter from Business Bureau assigned ID of [redacted].
Enclosed are my responses with all information's concerning this complaint for
your reviewing.
Ladies Designer Resale has been in business for almost 15 years in San Diego. We
are selling used and unused High End Designer clothing, handbag and accessories.
Since we are a consignment store we are receiving all kind of merchandises to
resale, there are some authentic and some are not authentic. However, for all
item coming to our store, our consignors required to provide the original receipt
of the item which the consignor claiming it is authentic. At Ladies Designer Resale,
we guarantee our merchandises because we go through extreme process & effort
to verify the authentication of these items before we sell these items to our
customers. In this case, at the time of this purchase on 10/14/11, this Buyer was
provided with The Original Chanel Receipt from our Consignor. She then kept the
bag for almost two years, now calling us and telling us that she send this bag to
couple of people from different Resale store and claiming the bag she bought
from Ladies Designer Resale was not an authentic bag.
1. I have no idea or knowledge if the same bag she purchased from Ladies
Designer Resale has been returned to her.
2. I can no longer locate the consignor who has since moved
3. Ladies Designer resale already verified the original receipt from Chanel and
the credit card receipt of the consignor showed the date and the same
amount from Chanel Boutique where the consignor bought the bag in 2010.
Ladies Designer has already provided the authentication she is now
requesting at the time of purchase.
4. Ladies Designer has no idea who is telling her this bag is a fake or even if we
are talking about the exactly same bag!!
5. What I know for certain is that the bag was authenticated and that she
used this bag for almost two years before making these claims.
6. We have offered her an extraordinary settlement not because we have to
but in an attempt to placate her in some way. Because at Ladies Designer
resale customer service is our most important issue and we always tried
our best to make our customer happy. For 15 years in business selling very
High End Designer Handbag &Clothing, this is the first time we have
someone accused us to sell a fake bag for a real one. Either way, I felt I
have been more than fair to her with my offer. And I am not prepared to
further engage in this fault claim issue.
7. I have included all written information's I have send to this buyer on
August 22, 2013 which is the first date and time I was informed by this
buyer for this case:
1*. Email & attach letter for finding of this case and offer the result
2* Email from [redacted] date from 8/22/13 & Lucie replied
The last but not least, I would like to stated very clearly, Ladies Designer Resale
will never sell a fake item and represent as a real item. We only sell to the
customers if the item is real after we have verified the original receipt from the
consignor who owned the item. If the consignor could not provide us the original
receipt then we will sell the item as is with no guarantee of authentication, and
we make sure the customer understand that they are buying an item we do not
stated authentic. At Ladies Designer Resale we have tried as honest as could be,
there no amount of commission would allowing us to cheat our customer. And
that why for the last 15 years we have never has this issue arise at all. Thank you
very much for your patient and understanding. Please contact me if you have any
more questions.

Response:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[They made me the offer below and I have asked them in every communication to send the bag to a reputable source to authenticate it and they have absolutely ignored and or refused that request. I have a witness that was with me when I purchased the bag and was told explicitly that this was a REAL Chanel handbag and as you can see from the first offer below-"no verification for authentic" with the "receipt they provided me from Chanel and an authentication card that does not match the bag, they year the bag was sold or the purse I purchased. If they stand behind their reputation and merchandise, Why will they not get a neutral 3rd party to authenticate the bag? My belief is that they are aware that this is a fake bag, they cannot contact the person that consigned with them and they are trying to get out of being responsible for misrepresenting and ultimately defrauded me. Whether it was intentional or unintentional, they state that they have a "15 year business with a great reputation" then why are they not backing up that claim by sending it to a 3rd party to get authenticated? That has been my consistent request and is the one thing they have chosen to ignore in every communication. If they are so confident, why will they not get this bag authenticated? One would assume that to re-sell or consign designer merchandise, a reputable business would have a trusted resource to authenticate before they consign or "re-sell Designer merchandise. The "paperwork" they provided me when I purchased the bag does not match up, they should want to make this right if they have such a good reputation and have been in business for 15 years and thier first offer below clearly indicates that the "paperwork" they provided me with the purchase is not legitimate, otherwise whey would they offer to re-sell it for me with the statement " No verification for authentic issue”? They stated they "checked" with Chanel before consigning the bag so why is that no longer true? Why wont they get it authenticated by a neutral 3rd party?
