I went into Lazy Boy in West Spfld., MA. They were advertising a trade in for your old couch. On the Door of the business, it stated Trade In Days. I called previous before I went to the store and asked the man what is Trade in Days. He stated that you get $200 for your old couch when you buy a new couch, or $50 for your old chair when you buy a new chair. He DID NOT say that the $200 was for a the purchase of a new couch that was not on sale, or not on clearance. He stated it was $200 of a new couch. I went in and picked out a couch. The clerk stated he'd give me $50 off because I was ordering a full sleeper sofa and not the queen (not sure he gave me that price). Nothing about the Trade in Days was posted in the store. When we got to the check out, the price he quoted was almost $1300. I figured with the $200 off, it would be around $949. He said I was not entitled to the $200 off because I was getting a couch that was already on sale. He said that they didn't have to post anything about $200 being just for regular priced items. It just seems like "lying by omission". I called back and talked to the manager who stated they don't have to post anything. So how does one know what the deal it?
Product_Or_Service: Sales
Other (requires explanation) I would like the couch -- England, Desire Mushroom, Full Sleeper Sofa -- including the $200 trade in value. That would be about $900. thank you
When this customer called, she states that we let her know you will get $200 off of a NEW couch. This does not include clearance. We offer $100 off a a new chair not $50.The trade in days sale that we offer is for new furniture not clearance furniture. The tag was clearly marked clearance and we went over that with the customer. This was one of two sofa's marked clearance in the entire store. The Price to order a new sofa as well as one in a different size would be more. We run an extremely upfront and honest business and would never intentionally omit information to take advantage of our customer. Also, if this customer wanted a new sofa that we would need to order, why would we mark a brand new sofa to a clearance price? This customer completely misunderstood everything that we were trying to explain to her and would only listen to herself. We tried our best to help this customer understand how a sale works but it was a dead end. Again, we run a very honest business. At the same time we also don't let customers take advantage of our kindness. We always does our best to understand and empathize with our customers and almost every time we come to an agreement with our customer that benefits the both of us. We apologize for the stress that this has caused our customer but we take a lot of pride in our honesty as a business and don't appreciate being bullied over our good hearted business practices.
