La Gloria Carpentry

I hired *** from La Gloria Carpentry, Inc to make and install kitchen cabinets, make and install quartz countertop and backsplash, refrigerator pantry door, laundry door, and water heater door. The kitchen cabinets doors would have a self-opening feature.

The contract was signed on January 29, 2019 for $5700. Upon signature, I gave him a 50% deposit in the amount of $2850. The installation was to be done in 15 days.

There was a delayed on my end on providing the measurements of the appliances to make the cabinets accordingly. I sent over to him the measurements on March 15, 2019 by email.

I'm filling this complaint because as of today May 19, 2020, he has not finished the job. He has only installed the bottom cabinets, but that installation was not even complete. The doors of the bottom cabinets do not open properly, there are spaces between the cabinets because he did not install the fillers.

Also, according to the contract signed, I was supposed to pay the remaining 50% upon completion. But, he told me to purchase the quartz for the countertop for $1500; pay the person he sent to install the countertop $240; give him, Mr. $500 when coming to my house to fix the countertop that the person he had sent installed wrong; and lastly he made me purchase an additional wood piece for $200 so that supposedly he would finish the kitchen. And, he told me I would not owe him anything else for all the trouble. He picked up this piece of wood from the place I bought it on January 2020, but still he has failed to finish the job.

He has given numerous excuses, from traveling to his country, to having a lot of personal issues, to having issues with other clients, to being sick, to having his son sick, to now having been tested positive twice to Covid-19.
