Review: I took my convertible car in for a new top on Sept 1st. I was told it should take about 3 weeks, I gave a deposit of $1600. After 4 weeks, I starting calling to get status of new top. First told they shipped out for it to be manufactured, and the manufacturer rec'd on Sept 9th, delaying the return of the new top, Week 5 they said the new top should be shipped back around Oct 6th. Week 6 was told new top shipped today, but first available date to install was Oct 19. I explained that I have been paying for a rental car since Sept 1, and maxed out credit cards. If I had known it would take 6-7 weeks, I would have reconsidered having the work done. I asked for help paying for rental, was told no. I asked for the balance due to be lowered, was told no.Desired Settlement: I want my top installed, but I want the balance due lowered because it is taking twice as long than was originally told.

Response:
On September 1, 2015, Mr. [redacted] came to our shop to inquire about installing a new top for his [redacted]. We explained to him that the top has to be taken off the vehicle and sent to the manufacturer to be custom made, using parts from the original top. This process would take an estimated 3 to 4 weeks. The manufacturer gives us an estimated time on what it should take. Unfortunately, there is no guarantee on that time and we are at the mercy of the manufacturer. That time frame is not including any shipping to and from the manufacturer. He agreed to this and left a deposit. We took the top off the vehicle and had it shipped to the manufacturer. We called the manufacturer on or about Sept. 10th. They informed us that, yes, they had received the top on Sept. 8th and the new top should be shipped back the week of the 28th. We called Mr. [redacted] to let him know this status.
