These numbers are provided for our guest's protection because they confirm a cancellation requestthey are important numbers, because without one we cannot credit an account.In this regard, when a credit card is used to make a reservation, we agree not to re-sell the room pending a guest's anticipated arrivalit is a form of contractual guarantee that requires us to set aside a room for the reservation holder until 7:am the following morning. In this particular case, her room was held throughout the night, and we were unable to offer it for sale to other guestshad we failed to uphold our guarantee, we would have been liable for relocating her and paying for the first night's room and tax.
