Kung Fu Massage Reviews (1)

Review: I received a gift certificate from my wife on Christmas 2012. I misplaced the gift certificate and found it Jan 2, 2015. (2 yrs and 1 mo.) I called Kung Fu Massage to inquire if the gift certificate was still valid, and I was told that it was. I went to the Kung Fu Massage that day (2 Jan 15), my neck muscles had been very tight, I wanted to see if a massage could resolve it. I presented my gift certificate for $60.00/1 hour massage, and [redacted] started the massage.

About 5 minutes later,[redacted] stepped away and a female worker stated the gift certificate was not good. I explained to her that there was no expiration date printed on it but she insisted that it was not valid. The whole purpose for me going there was to make my neck feel better. I was charged $32.05 plus tip. I told my wife and she said gift certificates are valid for 5 yrs. I was not aware of the gift certificate rule and that's why I paid for a 1/2 hour massage. The issue with my neck didn't get any better. That same day (Jan 2, 2015) my wife and I went to Kung Fu massage to attempt to resolve the issue. The language barrier prevented us from communicating properly with the worker. My wife called the manager who lives in New York while we were on-sight at Kung Fu Massage, and tried to get a resolution with her, but again, the language barrier prevented us from resolving the issue.

The bottom line is - my wife paid $60 and I paid $32.05 plus a $20 tip, and the gift certificate was not given back to us. We attempted to get it back, but the female worker looked at us dumbfounded when we asked for it. My friend ([redacted]) who owns a Chinese restaurant in Shelton agreed to help, he talked in Chinese to the female worker on the phone. I thought she understood after talking to[redacted], but she still insisted the gift certificate was only good for one year. [redacted] being a business owner explained that the law in CT states 10 years is the time allotted for gift certificates.

We tried to call the manager back so [redacted] could talk to her, but after multiple phone calls from my wife, she declined to answer. We are out $112.05.Desired Settlement: Someone from Revdex.com that speaks mandarin Chinese needs to explain to these people - 1. Know the law in the state of Connecticut and 2. DO NOT pressure customers at the cash register for a TIP!! The desired outcome is for Kung Fu Massage to refund $112.05 - gift certificate, my cost, plus tip. [redacted] ###-###-####
