I met with [redacted] on April 29th. We installed a photovoltaic solar system for her mother at [redacted] for NRG Residential Solar Solutions in December 2013. This system was sized and designed to produce approximately 9850 kwhr's a year. Her normal electrical...
usage based on past bills was about 22000 kwhrs per year. Therefore this system would produce approximately 45% of the normal power use in the home. In the lease NRG guarantees the production of these systems. I gave to [redacted] a copy of the production by the system to date along with the expected monthly production numbers for this system. This system has produced what was expected to date. I also showed [redacted] the meter at the house which measures the production of the solar system where she can always check the system's operation vs expected. I explained that solar systems produce less in the winter months than in the summer due to the length of day and intensity of the sun. Also in [redacted]'s mothers case she has electric heat so the bulk of her electric use is in the winter when the solar system produces the least. It has been a cold winter and everyone' that has electric heat has seen their electric use up.
I believe [redacted] now understands the operation of this solar system and what to expect. I left understanding [redacted] now was satisfied that her system is working correctly. I told her that if she had any further concerns to please contact me directly.
Review: Had solar panels installed by this company in November 2013 with understanding this would assist with lowering electric bills. Since this time the electric bills have more than doubled, and in accordance with claims stated by this company, there is no "banked credit" to date. I've called and spoken with the 2 owners of this company on multiple occasions and have not had anyone come to check the system, instead asking just about the bills. I've gotten a runaround regarding the bills, blaming the severe cold winter, and also been told that I can't expect any banked KWH credit for at least the first year which was NEVER stated during any discussions prior to signing the contract. I have nothing but excessively high bills (significantly higher than many neighbors with the same home except without solar panels.) Additionally, I'm being billed by the solar leasing company which brings my cost for electric even higher. At this point, short of legal proceedings, I need some recourse to handle this issue.Desired Settlement: I want to see some relief of my extremely high electric bills. I want assurance that the system will work as initially claimed or the solar panels removed immediately and bills from NRG leasing stopped.
